Hola, let's do this again, as I wish I could on a schedule. Accents, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with having one AT ALL- unless I can't understand you, or your not using grammar, then I hate you... not- but this is about when you take it to a new level, such as spelling sentences in such a way to give an accurate, albeit irksome, way to convey a speech pattern, or even- ...well, I'll get to that later.
I'm talking about people who speak in such a manner in books: having no other way to convey how they're talking, they spell everything wrong. I overlook it, getting why, but there's just something about it. "Lemme axe you a quession," or things of the like, people do this sort of thing so often that they're slowly making their way into actual language: Lemme (bad manners, no less), gotta (you don't even "got to", you "have to"), gonna (while I may use this in conversation, I'd never spell it out being serious- unless playing a character), or just the word wanna, they're everywhere.
Sometimes I'll use apostrophes in place of Gs, as in "spellin'," or "actin'," or things of the like. If you think about it contractions like "don't" and "shan't*" and "should've" or triple: "I'd've", they're also just conveying the way the person speaks, though it would be weird for you to not use them, you could not, in fact, that would be better, though, once again, I don't see myself or anybody else with a good grip on the stupid language of English givin' up their contractions, even "won't*".
People do this because you'd be missing some character in not telling how he-or-she speaks**, even in this post! The very first sentence "Hola, let's do this again, as I wish I could on a schedule." I'm a quirky person, so here's how I did say it: in "hola" I pronounce the H as if it was there, "again" I pronounce in the right manner***, like "gain" with the A in the beginning (not that I'm British- I'm not, no offense to Britishers), and in "schedule" I pronounce the CH and "-dule" as "-dyuwel" in stead of "-jwoul" to Maick phun uph fahniks****. "Hola, let's do this again, as I wish I could on a schedule".
So, in the end, it's worth it to make those mistakes on purpose.
Now for the surprising one. As the example, here's a true story: My sister, Gardreybiyella*****, has a school-book for our home-school classes, and it was obviously written by a Bostonian or two because in one of their lessons they talked about silent letters, y'know, like the P in "pterodactyl" or the... L in "Walk"? ... wait. Or in a song in the children's educational show Sid the science kid, the children rhymed "Mirror" and "here"... wait.
So, what this long post goes to show is that when it comes to accents, they're all alright, excluding those illiterate "accents" and those who take their accents as the correct way to speak.
And just for the sake of the importance of the message of this and many other posts, share the message among the peoples, I hope someday to have over twenty views that are not just mine.
Hoping to improve my generation,
Peyton/Churbles.
The asterisks:
*I say shan't and give emphasis on how won't should be ridden of for reasons I've given in my previous post Churbles, Grammatical Bomb: Phonics part 2 found here: http://rhettandlinkommunity.com/profiles/blogs/churbles-grammatical...
**This is to go ahead and say that speaking perfect is a characteristic as well as not, but when everybody speaks without error*** it goes from a characteristic to just a well- or not as well, as the case may be, written book.
***I worded that that way because I hate words like perfectly and correctly for their use of -ctly, there's no way to pronounce it that I do like. Just adding the way I speak to the post about the way other people speak.
****Make fun of phonics, Maick phun uph fahniks, I made fun of it when I said I was making fun of it.
