RhettandLinKommunity

Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

This post and the rules it contains are fully endorsed by Rhett and Link as the Official Rules of the Kommunity.

Our desire is that the Kommunity be a friendly place for beasts of all backgrounds and opinions to have fun and interact with one another. To that end, it's necessary to have moderators who work to keep everything organized and appropriate for everyone.

The moderators have the authority to issue warnings, suspend members, and permanently delete accounts based on rule violations (as well as other actions related to members and content)--among other things--so please read through the Official Rules below. The current core group of moderators also maintains all back-end functions for the website.

Here are the current K-Mods!

Official Rules of the Kommunity

All rules contained in the Ning Terms of Service are applicable to all members of www.rhettandlinkommunity.com (“the Kommunity”). Members will be held accountable to both the Terms of Service and the Official Rules as defined below.

Kommunity Moderators (“K-Mods”) are site officials who have been appointed by Rhett and Link to uphold all the Terms of Service and Official Rules through means of warning, suspension, and/or permanent account deletion as necessary.

MODERATING AND REPORTING

  1. K-Mods are responsible for identifying breaches of the Official Rules and confronting any offenders. They are responsible for issuing warnings and disciplining offenders as necessary. No other members carry these responsibilities.
  2. If no K-Mods are present in Main Chat or logged into the Kommunity at the time someone breaks any of these Official Rules, please report the offender to any K-Mod via one of the methods below; the K-Mod will confront any offenders and discipline them as necessary.
    • The comment section of a K-Mod's personal profile page (if it's not a private matter)
    • Inbox private message
    • The official K-Mod email account: kommunity.mods@gmail.com

MAIN CHAT

K-Mods retain the right to delete any Main Chat messages that breach the Terms of Service or Official Rules. K-Mods also retain the right to suspend members who repeatedly breach these rules.

  1. In using and creating a Kommunity account, you agree and are expected to use your account under only your own identity. Ghosting and imitating accounts, or otherwise pretending to be a person other than yourself, is not permitted. This is a fraudulent presentation of identity and is also considered a form of trolling if account/identity imitation is committed against any specific member of the Kommunity.
  2. Members are responsible at all times for the activity on their accounts, unless obviously infected by a virus or maliciously hacked. Claims that a sibling, friend, or pet (e.g., cat), etc. temporarily came into the account and broke the Official Rules will not serve as an excuse, and the account owner will be disciplined as necessary.

Issues of Respect

  1. Respect fellow members and anyone discussed in the Main Chat. Please refrain from discussion of topics such as religion, politics, or other sensitive issues in any manner that they may cause offense or disturbance.
  2. Respect includes following The Golden Rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Do not exhibit rude or antagonistic behavior. Further guidelines include, but are not limited to:
    • If other members of the chat ask you to stop doing something because they find it crude, annoying, upsetting, etc., then you must do your best to comply. Always remember that this is a group chat room, and you must consider the feelings and requests of other people in the group.
    • Racially charged comments, including racial and cultural stereotyping, are not tolerated.
    • Avoid making harshly sarcastic, rude, and insulting jabs at members in the main chat room. If you are friends with someone and they understand your humor, then that is okay; however, DO NOT ASSUME that any Kommunity member will realize you are being sarcastic or joking.
  3. If a member says something to you that you find offensive or upsetting, in accordance with these Official Rules, and especially within an Inbox message or a Personal Chat, then report that person to a moderator. The moderator will be responsible for confronting that person and disciplining them as necessary.

Spam

  1. Do not spam Main Chat for advertisement. Advertising spam is defined as:
    1. Any material meant to market specific products/services or solicit monetary funds
    2. Any material that leads to a malicious, illegal, or inappropriate online source
  2. Do not spam Main Chat with repetitive material. Repetitious spam is defined as:
    1. Nonsensical messages or symbols that do not contribute to any conversation taking place and are posted frequently enough that they appear multiple times within a single screen of the default chat room
    2. Continuous posting of a single message, including external links and images, that is posted frequently enough that it appears multiple times within a single screen of the default chat room

Language and Imagery

  1. Refrain from excessive use of profane language. Any profanity used in a belligerent, threatening, harassing, or sexually explicit manner will be grounds for suspension.
  2. Vulgar, offensive, or intentionally inflammatory language, symbols, or imagery are not permitted.
  3. Refrain from excessive use of capital letters. “Excessive” constitutes posting full messages in capital letters frequently enough that they appear multiple times within a single screen of the default chat room.
  4. Refrain from rapidly posting single words as single lines meant to compose a whole sentence (e.g., do / not / type / like / this). Repeated posting in this style from a member may result in suspension from Main Chat.

Foreign Languages

  1. The first language of the Main Chat room is English. This is to ensure everyone has a common ground to speak to one another in a group setting, as well as to ensure foreign languages are not abused as methods of undetected trolling and harassment. Since Rhett and Link make their videos in English, this is a shared language that everyone can understand.
  2. If you would like to speak in a language other than English with another Kommunity member in the Chat Room, please do so in a Private Chat, since those are particularly conducive for one-on-one conversations. If you would still prefer to speak in Main Chat, please provide translations with your foreign language-sentences so other members aren’t alienated from your conversation.

Privacy and Adult Themes

  1. External links to pornographic, adult/illegal, and nude content, whether visual or written, is strictly prohibited. This includes nudity that appears in artistic or otherwise legal content.
  2. For personal safety, members should neither ask for nor reveal private information such as home or work addresses, telephone numbers, personal payment information, medical information, or social security numbers.
  3. Do not make intimate or adult-themed comments or inquiries about members’ personal lives. Inappropriate sexual comments are not tolerated.
  4. If a member tells you that your questions or behavior (e.g., flirting) is making them uncomfortable, you must cease that behavior. Continued behavior that makes any member uncomfortable is considered harassment and grounds for suspension.

Roleplaying

  1. Low-level roleplaying activities are permitted in the Main Chat room. Storytelling roleplaying with unique characters and environments is not.
    1. Low-level roleplaying is usually indicated by asterisks (*) around the roleplaying action. It is considered low-level if there are no complicated plot, characters, universes, or rules involved.
      • Examples include actions such as *finds kitty and adopts it* or *pats friend on the head.*
    2. If you would like to participate in storytelling roleplaying, please join the Role Playing group that already exists on the Kommunity and create a forum discussion there for your roleplaying environment.
  2. If, at any time, members in the Main Chat request that roleplaying participants stop or tone down their roleplaying activities, those roleplaying members must do their best to comply. When it becomes too detailed or drawn-out, roleplaying can be a deterrent to others trying to have conversations in Main Chat.

FORUM

K-Mods retain the right to delete any Forum threads or individual replies that breach the Terms of Service or Official Rules. K-Mods also retain the right to suspend members who repeatedly breach these rules.

  1. Avoid creating redundant Forum discussions when a similar discussion already exists. Redundant discussions will be subject to deletion.
  2. Sort a new discussion under the appropriate discussion category (General Discussion, Good Mythical Morning Discussions, etc.), located in the “Category” drop-down menu, to ensure that Forum discussions are easy to find and topic-appropriate.
  3. Do not spam the Forum for advertisement. Advertising spam is defined as:
    1. Any material meant to market specific products/services or solicit monetary funds
    2. Any material that leads to a malicious, illegal, or inappropriate online source
  4. Refrain from excessive use of profane language. Any profanity used in a belligerent, threatening, harassing, or sexually explicit manner will be grounds for suspension.
  5. External links to, or original content about, pornographic, adult/illegal, and nude content, whether visual or written, is strictly prohibited. This includes nudity that appears in artistic or otherwise legal content.
  6. For personal safety, members should neither ask for nor reveal private information such as home or work addresses, telephone numbers, personal payment information, medical information, or social security numbers.

BEAST PHOTOS

K-Mods retain the right to delete any photos and images that breach the Terms of Service or Official Rules. K-Mods also retain the right to suspend members who repeatedly breach these rules.

  1. Images of pornographic, adult/illegal, and nude content is strictly prohibited. This includes nudity that appears in artistic or otherwise legal content.
  2. Refrain from excessive use of profane language in any images, captions, or comments. Any profanity used in a belligerent, threatening, harassing, or sexually explicit manner will be grounds for suspension.
  3. Refrain from posting any photos or content that are not original creations unless they are free to use and share. Images created by someone other than the posting member that are passed off as the member’s own creation will be deleted, and the member will receive a warning for an initial breach of this rule.
  4. Personal photos that are private in nature and do not belong to the posting member, even if originally posted to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, should not be re-posted to the Kommunity. This includes family photos of either Rhett or Link, past or present, unless originally publicized by Rhett and Link themselves.

BEAST VIDEOS

K-Mods retain the right to delete any videos that breach the Terms of Service or Official Rules. K-Mods also retain the right to suspend members who repeatedly breach these rules.

  1. Videos of pornographic, adult/illegal, and nude content is strictly prohibited. This includes nudity that appears in artistic or otherwise legal content.
  2. Refrain from excessive use of profane language in any video content, captions, or comments. Any profanity used in a belligerent, threatening, harassing, or sexually explicit manner will be grounds for suspension.
  3. Refrain from re-posting videos published by Rhett and Link, as this is redundant. Re-posted Rhett and Link videos are subject to deletion.
  4. Refrain from posting any video that is not an original creation unless it is free to use and share. Videos posted from YouTube or other video sharing websites must be accompanied by a disclaimer that it is not the posting member’s original work. Videos created by someone other than the posting member that are passed off as the member’s own creation will be deleted, and the member will receive a warning for an initial breach of this rule.

BEAST BLOGS

K-Mods retain the right to delete any Blog posts that breach the Terms of Service or Official Rules. K-Mods also retain the right to suspend members who repeatedly breach these rules.

  1. Refrain from excessive use of profane language in Blog posts and comments. Any profanity used in a belligerent, threatening, harassing, or sexually explicit manner will be grounds for suspension.
  2. External links to, or original content about, pornographic, adult/illegal, and nude content, whether visual or written, is strictly prohibited. This includes nudity that appears in artistic or otherwise legal content, according to the Kommunity’s classification as a website suitable for members ages 13 and up.
  3. For personal safety, members should neither ask for nor reveal private information such as home or work addresses, telephone numbers, personal payment information, medical information, or social security numbers.

GROUPS

K-Mods retain the right to delete any Groups that breach the Terms of Service or Official Rules. Groups will be approved if they are for general interest topics with open membership that might hold wide appeal to other Kommunity members and have a clear theme or subject of focus; otherwise, Group requests are subject to deletion/rejection. Groups should maintain an atmosphere like an open carnival with a variety of booths to visit, instead of secret societies that exclude. Those who start groups should create an environment that people will join and want to come back to.

  1. Requests for new groups will be reviewed within 24 hours of the request being submitted. If, after 24 hours, you do not see a notification in your activity that your new group was posted, then that means it was denied.
  2. Members must search the existing Groups on the Kommunity before submitting a Group request in order to ensure a similar Group does not already exist. Requests for redundant Groups will be denied.
  3. Groups that are based on hateful, abusive, discriminatory, illegal, inappropriate, or intentionally inflammatory subject matter will be denied.
  4. If a new group fails to obtain at least 5 active members within 3 months of creation, then the group may be subject to deletion.
  5. Any existing group that is inactive for a full year will be subject to deletion.
