The new GMM format is four separate videos, huh? I'll hold my judgement until we actually switch to this format, but I'm not particularly excited to hear about that. Without knowing more, it just seems like an attempt to (theoretically) quadruple the views.
On a more positive note, I WAS excited to hear confirmation of Nougat™'s large role in Buddy System season 2. It may be too much to hope that it's used as a classic insult, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Wow! I glossed right over the 4-video bit. So it sounds like not 4 separate video uploads, but 4 video segments in one single episode. They already said the reformatted GMM will feel more like a late night talk show* with segments featuring celebrity and musical guests, field-produced shorts, and sketches. Breaking it down into 4-video segments will allow them to film several related topics at a time and then mix and match pieces in the editing room to assemble each show.

Ah, that would make sense. I guess I took the "four videos" part literally and thought they would be uploading each segment separately, similar to what many late night shows do on YouTube. That's a bit of a strange assumption, reflecting back on it, but it was also a bit of a weird way for Link to phrase it, in fairness.
P.S. - - I figured you caught the nougat, but since I also never miss a (chance to mention) nougat, I had to include it.

Well, the answer is in and it's not the one I was suspecting (and hoping for).
Sometimes MORE is not BETTER, it's just more. Oftentimes, more just means more work... and the cost / return doesn't work in your favor. And, sadly, occasionally more is just too much.
For the same reason that I rarely listen to or watch any Ear Biscuits episodes I'm going to have to decide just how much of my limited time can be taken up in R&L.
I fear this decision may come back with poor results.

I'm with you on all fronts, though I do listen to Ear Biscuits.
We'll see if the multi-video strategy sticks. The situation here reminds me of The Mythical Show, both in the format of segments and the fact that it's an idea R&L obviously were excited about but didn't hit too well with many fans. I liked TMS, and I'm all for supporting their vision, but I'll be interested to see how they respond to the viewer feedback.

makes one wonder if they do any "target market" surveys or maybe float a pilot program or two to a select group for comments prior to making these changes
