Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

I appreciate clean comedy. However, I am not an idiot. I know that if you put two men in front of a camera you are going to get a little bit of adult humor thrown in. It's seemed to increase overtime with Rhett and Link's videos. A joke with a double meaning that a kid would never understand is "OK" but still not good. However, in GMM's latest episode with Chester See, they throw in the subjects of "nip slips" and "humping". Granted, they were making guesses for a trivia game about YouTubers. However, Rhett and Link both admitted to knowing that they were providing the wrong answers meaning that they intentionally brought up filthy subjects. What drew me to their show was the fact that they had fairly clean content. I never had an issue sharing the videos with younger family members or suggesting videos to friends at my church. Now I'm not so sure I want to remain subscribed to a channel that will change its standards to be more like its YouTube friends. Attached are two screen captures from the latest episode of GMM.

Rhett and Link, I hope you two see this post and think about the content you are creating. You know your content is popular with kids as most of your "It's time to spin the wheel of Mythicality" videos are made by kids. Kids look up to you and respect you as two men who brighten their day. Please consider my words. I might reconsider unsubscribing if you can go back to being a show I have no shame in sharing.

Sincerely,

Zachary Spriggs

Ya know, when I was a kid, I actually started watching a lot of vulgar tv by accident like Southpark, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's, adult swim, etc. So, I guess compared to that, R&L IS tame!! lol

I love that we all care so much about them to discuss this. :) On an afterthought, I guess we just can't avoid the euphemisms that kids will hear because it's everywhere.

I was originally introduced to Rhett and Link at church watching old clips of the Fabulous Bentley Brothers with my son who was 5 at the time. He is 10 now and my 4 year old son loves them too. They have never said or done anything that I have had to "explain" to my 10 year old, BUT, there have been a few times that I have had to redirect my 4 year old for repeating things I wouldn't want him exclaiming in public that he hears on the show. For example, the time when Rhett said that the fish they opened when Felix was on MORE "smelled like the worst fart ever", my 4 year old kept repeating it all day. As a parent, it is my responsibility to do my best to redirect my children to do and say the right things. The guys do their best to censor themselves just like Link saying "GD" today instead of what was actually on the TRIVY question, but depending where your own mind is, you can create situations that sound and feel like innuendos easily. The "Rhink" shippers have proven you can turn anything into a fantasy. NO OFFENSE TO THAT FAN BASE! They were answering trivia questions about other YOUTUBERS, the answers may not have been family friendly, I don't know who chose the questions. I didn't want to hear about Tyler dreaming about drinking his own pee. You won't find any of those types of questions in R&L's pack. They haven't changed. I can't imagine them crimping their morals in order to fit in better with anyone either. Good discussion.

I agree with what you are saying, but Rhett and Link both admitted to knowing they were giving the wrong answers to those questions. If they didn't know the answer, surely they could have thought of answers that weren't so strange.

Then that would indicate they thought it would be funnier that way.
I also think the nip-slip came up again in this episode in a throwback to when it happened in the Smosh episode, which many people seemed to find hilarious when it happened.

That whole episode was comedy gold :)

I've noticed innuendos in a few of their videos & personally I think they're hilarious, but that's just my sense of humour. Yeah they sometimes "do things" or use words that aren't as "family friendly" but it's just light-hearted adult humour, & Kids aren't their only viewers.

I'd be happy if they continued to add that kind of content. They can't be expected to make "clean" content all the time!

There's no shame in crude humour btw.

:)

I support this! I know it's their channel and they can do whatever they want, but personally I like them because of their let's call it "clean" humor.

Again it's my opinion, and one of the things I like most of Rhett and Link, hope they keep it "child friendly" (:

Also, I think that Rhett thought the same as Link but didn't wanted to write it and that's why he said "gently caressing" hahahaha

i do not mean to be rude when i say this but im pretty sure your children did not learn about "humping" and "nip slips" from this channel. kids are a lot smarter then you think and you cant hide the world from them for ever.

i mean they slipped a "foot size doesn't matter," joke into frozen.

Considering one of these words exists in the dictionary there is no harm in saying them. It's not vulgar or slander etc in any way. As I said my children watch every episode and will consider to do so if they wish. But maybe i'm less sensitive about this kind of thing, as you said about the foot size joke, you see loads of adult humour in children's movies, most of it a great deal 'worse' than writing humping or nip slip on a white board in a game.

Very interesting perspective. Yes, i do understand where you are coming from but i don't see that as the case.

This has happened before, but it wasn't such a big deal. I remember one time from one of the episodes from the Mythical Show (I'm sorry, i don't remember which one) they accidentally threw in filthy subject that they don't even know they're doing that was misinterpreted

However, that was just one time. I still believe that Good Mythical Morning is still a family friendly show that goes around making people smile. They are human, remember, so they will make a few mistakes in their lives, but that is no reason to make a fuss over. They are still innovating and improving over the years Keep that in mind.

~This is my own personal opinion~
