Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

I'm not sure if this will be allowed to stay or will be deleted but I've just watched the latest episode on Vessel (fan mail Thursday episode) and I'm a little bit upset, so much so I made an account here just to write this message.

I joined in with the community project for Link's birthday after seeing it trending on tumblr. I thought it was an amazing idea and sent my entry the same day. I  was convinced that Link would of been so happy and proud of the gift it would of been featured on a video, at the very least I expected a mention on one of his social media. But so far I'm sad that this has not been the case. Maybe I am being too quick to write this but as a long term Rhett and Link 'beast' this just confirms for me that they are done with fans in general. I never joined here before as they seemed to shift all their interest to facebook and twitter which are not even ran and managed by them, I cannot remember the last time the community was mentioned on a video. poor fans getting excited when their posts are reposted by crew thinking it's Rhett and Link themselves. Running a company is time consuming I admit but to me it just feels like it has gone all corporate and sponser sponser sponser and they have forgot the most important people.
I could not wait to see the end result of all the hard work the creator of this project did. I searched a few websites and looked at the cost and was shocked with how expensive it is to do what he/she did with having a custom book printed. All beasts who joined in with this should be proud and should hold their heads high at joining in for something that we think is amazing and specia

I apologise but this is just my thoughts.

Hi Jenni, I was the one who put the book together.
I'm sorry that you are upset that Link has not made a comment on the gift. I was informed by Jen last week that they had received it and were passing it on to him so we are pretty sure he got it (however my tracking still shows the package as undelivered..).  You were right that it was expensive to make but money was never an issue for me when making the project, it was all about the content and showing Link how much the people here on the Komm and other beasts care.
I do encourage beasts to ask him on twitter/other social media if he liked it, poke him for a response :)

However I did say to people not to get their hopes up about it being on an episode as personally I never expected it as sad as that may sound to you.

In regards to your other points about caring for the Komm, there are some of us who are of a similar impression. So much so we co wrote a letter which we included in the gift for Link to read. I then sent a follow up to both R&L's emails at the beginning of this week, we are hopeful they will take interest in what we  have to say and get back to us. I will not go into more detail as yet but there is a chance what we wrote will become public for other beasts to read and include their input in the near future.
Also included in the package was a print out of the Commercial Kings petition.

I have the original proof here at home. A few people involved have emailed me asking if I took pictures before sending, so what I'll do is make a little video showing the proof which is pretty much identical to the one that got sent to Link. I was going to post the original PDF which contains all the messages, but I may change my mind as some of the letters are quite personal and I don't think the people who sent would want them public.

Thank you again for your enthusiasm for the project. Even though it was (so far) unacknowledged, I will still be doing the same closer to October for Rhett so please do take part in that with us.
-Carol

They record the episodes some days before they aired, maybe Link will talk about that in some of the next episodes. It depends, maybe the episodes aired now have been made before he actually received the gift.

Hey, Jenni! You are unfortunately correct about Rhett and Link's participation in the Kommunity; they haven't been truly active here since around 2012, with some very rare posting in the years since then. Many of us have been struggling with how to reconcile our love for R&L's internetainment with R&L's noticeably decreased interest in fan interaction.

I agree that it's disappointing when this kind of thoughtful, quality gift isn't acknowledged in any way. There is maybe still some time to see if that changes in the upcoming week -- they film GMM well in advance of airing date, though I don't know exactly how far ahead -- but in the event they have no plans to feature it on the show, a mention or a quick "thanks!" on social media seems like the least they could do.

Regardless, it was definitely a special project, as you said. :)

Hi Jenni, no need to apologize for your thoughts. When I first found Rhett and Link I was impressed by how much they engaged their fans. It's what I've loved about Youtubers over those in traditional media. With that being said, I believe Rhett and Link are hurting their fans and themselves by withdrawing. I've watched them gradually disappear over the last couple years. I wasn't sure if I was the only one who felt that way, but now I see that I'm not alone.

Don't give up hope completely (yet).

The completed KBE for our RhettandLinkopoly board game was boxed and shipped to the GMM Studio on June 12, 2014 and arrived (per delivery verification) just 4 days later.  But it was not revealed until the Thursday Means Mail segment of GMM #485 on July 17th . . . just over one month after it was received.  Granted, this did include the 9-day summer vacay hiatus between Season 5 and Season 6.

Agreed, there is still a possibility for it to appear next week.

I might be killing some of the mystique of the "daily morning show," but I've come across some evidence that they sometimes film episodes almost a week in advance.

On May 7 they posted this picture on their official Instagram.

The Butter Cutter is autographed, but in an episode a few days later it shows up unsigned. Here's a clear view of it from May 12's episode of GMMore:

I know this isn't the only explanation. They could have bought 2 butter cutters.

Hopefully they are planning on featuring the book next week and the reason it hasn't shown up was because this Thursday's episode was already filmed.

If history is any indication, they've always used the exact items and props from their videos to send as prizes to the GMM Win Face winners -- so my hunch is that's the Butter Cutter they used in the original GMM episode, and they signed it later, which is what posted to Instagram. That would confirm the episode was filmed approximately a week in advance.

Due to the nature of Vessel, we already know that they film GMM at least one day in advance (although it would be safe to guess they give more time for editing/production), and we've seen evidence before that they sometimes film several episodes in one day.

The main reason I hoped we'd see the book (possibly) featured sooner rather than later is because of the time-sensitivity -- everyone knows Link's birthday was June 1, so to see a birthday gift featured a couple weeks afterward would theoretically be strange. But who knows.

Oh I see my art in that you tube thumbnail:) yay. I am surprised my thing was even opened. I know rhett liked it. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  I think they don't handle the mail right now and they have maybe Jen organize what it is the be opened. I really hope the book is next week. I been looking on vessel....Just hope and stay strong! We are here for ya!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXnJD7R9DQc

I can understand the disappointment. I was also hoping that there would be at least a small thanks to the community in twitter or some where. *shrugs* Maybe there will be one eventually.

I agree that the lack of participation with the fans is starting to show. Especially since I've started to watch other youtubers like Markiplier and Jacksepticeye who are immensely active with their fans. I suppose the difference there is that they have never made it into corporate thing. I as well understand that running the company needs a lot of people etc, but the main point of the youtube is always the community and the closeness to the fans. If you loose that, then you are just another faceless enterprise.

Oh yes exactly Alexis
As I said in my reply and to people as we were putting it together, I really don't expect it to be featured. They get soo much mail. A quick "thanks it's cool" or something here on the Komm on on twitter would be nicel but again I don't expect it. The thing I pulled out of Jenni's original post was the decreased fan interaction and it seems most people replying here are of the same thought which is sad and a little scary.

Thank you for being so kind with your replies.
Yes I understand I am probably too early with complaining that the gift wasn't shown, I apologise for that. I did not realise the show was made that far in advance, I presumed a few days.

Carol, thank you again for doing the gift! Yes I will join in with the one for Rhett when you do it. It's nice to have beasts like you who care for the rest of us.

I am pleased to see I am not the only one who thinks the passion has left Rhett and Link when it comes to the community. It is very sad to see and I hope they realise soon before it damages them.

No need to thank, just keep smiling. All will be well and don't be a stranger to the Komm :)
