Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
I might as well start doing some explaining.
A few months ago, Ray asked me directly:
"Is the Queen of the Amazon a mythical beast?"
Now, I was unable to answer this, as the question completely baffled me. So I did some digging, some exploring, some cutting through greenery way down there in the Rainforest, and I discovered a simple, but important, fact.
The Queen of the Amazon is a Wood Fairy of the Night.
Now, in case you're unfamiliar with this particular race of Fairies, allow me to elaborate. Wood Fairies of the Night are quite unlike Wood Fairies and almost entirely different from Fairies of the Night. They have special characteristics. Since they live in the Woods (and Forests, but they stick to their names), they have a green aura around them. Basically, they dress in earthy colors, have olive skin, and deep green (almost black) hair, most of the time.
Since they are nocturnal, they have a stealth about them seldom seen in other fairies. In fact, a famous explorer once described them as more of Nymphs than Fairies, but, uneducated as we are, we stuck with the name fairy. This stealth allows them to navigate unheard through the trees and plants without alerting a single soul of their presence. This is why the Wood Fairies of the Night know a lot more about humans than we know about them. We know very little about them, and had it not been for my informant, whom we will label "Mr. Infopottamus," we would know little still. Mr. Infopottamus personally met the Queen of the Amazon one day, and she told him her story. He was sworn to secrecy for most of it, but some parts he could tell me. I will narrow these down into numbered facts:
Fact #1: The Queen of the Amazon is considered sort of a legend among Wood Fairies of the Night, and some believe she even has elf blood in her, though this myth has not been confirmed.
Fact #2: The Queen of the Amazon does interact with the other Wood Fairies of the Night, but remains hidden enough that her origins remain a mystery.
Fact #3: No creature of the Amazon has the will to hurt her. Though she may not have ever been crowned Queen, she has power like a ruler, and all respect her.
Fact #4: The Queen of the Amazon will sometimes appear to tribal people, teaching them to make things grow, or how to live a better life.
Fact #5: The Queen of the Amazon will only come out in daylight during the rainy season, during which time she'll sit on the banks of the Amazon River and sing a haunting tune in the language of Old.
Fact #6: She does not just sing and wander around, she also wields great power...
At this point, Mr. Infopottamus declined to tell me more. Apparently he was sworn to secrecy regarding the power of the Queen of the Amazon. All I can tell you is this- some believe she is an enchantress. All signs point towards her being Good, but little is known to confirm that.
But it was when I was traipsing through the Amazon Rain forest, and heard a faint, beautiful singing, such as few mortals have heard before, that I discovered her. The Queen of the Amazon. My Mythical Beast.
