Nahum
1:8 But with an overflowing flood
He will make a complete end of the adversaries,
and will pursue His enemies
into darkness.

"Overflowing flood" reminded me of the flood in Genesis. A global flood destroyed all mankind and animal life besides what was on Noah's ark. Also, Nahum 2:6-8 give evidence that Nineveh was to be destroyed by a flood.

This verse stands in great contrast to verse 7. YHWH is good and a refuge for His people, but He will destroy His enemies.

"Complete end" refers to an end of life followed by eternal damnation in hell ("darkness"). That part of this verse is speaking in a general sense. All "adversaries" of YHWH will come to a "complete end" one day. Verse 9 speaks specifically to/of Nineveh as an adversary of YHWH coming to a "complete end."
