Nahum
1:7 The LORD is good,
a stronghold in the day of trouble;
He knows those who take refuge in Him.
It's interesting to note that immediately after mentioning YHWH's wrath and anger, Nahum tells us YHWH is good. Wouldn't it seem that an angry wrathful God would be bad?
The question is often asked, "How can there be a good God if all this pain, evil, and suffering is in the world?" Evil, pain and suffering are a result of Adam and Eve's sin in Eden (Genesis 3) where sin entered the world and all mankind (Romans 5:12).
YHWH is good in that He is just. A just judge wouldn't allow a mass murder on trial to go home declared "not guilty." YHWH cannot allow sin to go unpunished. He is good when He executes His wrath on wickedness.
Christ stood in my place and bore YHWH's wrath on the cross. Now, my heavenly Father can look at me through the blood of Christ and declare me "not guilty." Praise God He took the wrath!
