Christianity is not a theory or speculation, but a life; not a philosophy of life, but a living presence.

Exodus 14:14

"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

Remember this in all things...relax, find comfort in knowing He is taking care of what you need...

Perfectly said Gumbo123... I am so blessed that my Pastor preaches and teaches the Bible in its entirety.  I pray that I never become so callus to think that I can not be convicted.  I have been challenged since I started attending to press into and push towards God and His ways.  Just do one more thing... Everyday I reflect on what else I can do in my walk... pray, love, give, to be intentional about it and do it in Gods name.  My life and my child's life has changed SOOO much! I am so blessed to be able to really have a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior. Give God All Glory!!

@ Beaglehawk - - yes, congrats on relying on the one infallible source of information in your re-study.  And also for going to your parents for advice . . .

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

~ Proverbs 12:15

Consider this . . . if the church you are part of now doesn't live up to the Bible and God's definition of what a church should be, you're at the wrong place.  There are far too many "feel good", prosperity-preaching, never-offend-anybody-so-we-can-keep-the-offering-plates-filled kind of churches social clubs out there . . . it's like a Baskin Robbins of religion - - 31 flavors and sure to fit anyone's taste.  If my Pastor didn't preach the entire book and step on my toes from time to time (as well as being their to help me walk when I need it), the he wouldn't care and I wouldn't be able to (or want to) think of my church as FAMILY.

Well done! If there is an area that we do not understand.... go to the Bible... Study... and you will find the answer! Seek and ye shall find :)

Okay, after re-reading my previous post, talking to my parents about this subject, and reading some Bible passages on it, I realize I may have under-stressed the importance of the church. In the New Testament, the church is, yes, a body of believers, but it is also organized. It includes deacons and elders who are able to lead the church effectively, and are ordained by God to help keep us on track in our spiritual lives. Another thing that you may not have in a youth group or Bible study is communion. Communion is something that Christ told us to do so that we would constantly remember what he did for us on the cross. I think the church can be extremely helpful in these areas, providing God-ordained leaders to help us in our walks and allowing us to observe communion. So, are Bible studies helpful? Yes. Can they strengthen us and allow us to strengthen others? Definitely. But should they replace the church in our lives? I'm not exactly sure. Not going to church definitely doesn't disqualify you from being a Christian, but most of the time it is more helpful than it is harmful, and it allows you to communion with other believers as it was shown in the New Testament. I'm sorry if this sounds completely contradictory to what I said before, but, like I said, I had some second thoughts after studying this topic a bit.

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

21 And having an high priest over the house of God;

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Now don't get me wrong I understand the actual building isn't the church it's the people. But if there's a good church near you that is doctrinally straight, loves The Lord and is fruit bearing then I highly recommend going! That's why Paul wrote to the church of Corinth, laodicia, Ephesus, etc. They were all a body of believers assembled together. In Timothy (I think) he stresses the requirements and things a bishop (pastor) should do and how to lead the flock that God put him over. So whether or not it's a building isn't the issue. We need to be assembling ourselves together and edify and exort each other! That's the job of a pastor To exort the church, edify the church, rebuke the church! If you were sick wouldn't you want to go to the doctor and get better? That's what church is like! In a weeks time the world drags us down making us spiritually weak, and we need to go to church to get better, recharged, get on fire for The Lord! "Where two or more are gathered in my name there I am in the midst of them" So even if it isn't a church building you should be meeting somewhere with other Christians and serving The Lord in song, fellowship bible study etc. I mean if you are bearing fruit in The Lord, then that's all good. Were all going to stand before God at the judgment seat of Christ and give an account of what we did for him on this earth. I would like him to say " Well done thou good and faithful servant" But if I'm not faithful in serving him, and trying to abstain from sin then I will lose the rewards I could've had :/ Sorry that it was long, just thought I should share! Lol
