Best Conventions?

I haven't been to a lot of anime conventions... yupp, newb alert! :P But the few I have been to have all been really different. I want to know what you think makes the best anime convention. Is it the cosplay, hanging with friends, raving, or possibly getting to meet some of your anime/cosplay heros?

Personally, I just like hanging out with my friends and meet new people! Even though I can be extremely shy, the fellow convention-goers are generally very interesting people and it's not easy to run out of things to talk about!

Really it is the whole package that makes it. I like going to conventions with at least one friend. If they want to do a lot of the same stuff as you, then it makes it easier to stick together, and have down time together. However, if you are willing to talk to other con goers then you can easily make new friends and still have a good time. Cosplay won't make or break a con, but it just adds more fun, especially if your character is recognized and people take pictures. Raving is awesome. I don't like to dance, but having glowsticks or poi in my hands makes me feel more confident. Meeting voice actors, cosplayers, animators, etc., is definitely a high point. And it isn't uncommon to be in close quarters with them at cons. I have been alone on the elevator with Vic Mignogna, had a Japanese lesson from Samantha Inoue, and told Chris Ayres to have a nice day when he was having his cigarette outside. They are also some of the most awesome people to talk to and see in panels. I highly recommend attending voice actor panels, if you haven't already. Their stories and antics are wonderful. Overall, I'm kind of a shy person, but I find that cons are a place where you can feel free and cut loose.

I've never really gone to any panels before. I'm gonna start experimenting with them though. I'm planning on spending pretty much an entire saturday at panels. Two of which are Demyx Time/The Sora Show Q&A's! (if you've never seen either, I highly recommend looking them up on youtube!) I'm so excited for those! ^^

When I first started going to conventions I didn't go to the panels, but I have discovered that sometimes they can be some of the best parts. I think you will have a great time attending them.
