Hello Mythical Beasts
Most of you have at some point picked up a
camera and fired off a few shots.
Be it on vacation, or out with
friends, or maybe just loafing around the house. When you hit that
button, the shutter opens for anywhere between a 1000th of a second and
a 30th of a second, the faster the speed, the sharper the image. If we
extend the shutter speed to say.....30 seconds, we get some interesting
results. Any light that passes in front of the open shutter is absorbed
which makes it great for photographing night scenes and starry nights,
but also great for Light Graffiti.
Making light graffiti is simple all you need is
-A camera (that can take long time exposure pictures)
-A light source (something like a flash light, led lights work the best)
-A tripod or steady surface (optional but recommended)
First setup your camera on the tripod or surface
then, set it to a long exposure time (might be called fireworks or nighttime, experiment until you find it)
hit the button and run in front of the camera and wave the light around like a mad man!
I strongly urge you to experiment with different techniques, such as,
-Striking a pose, turn on flashlight (to light yourself up), turn off flashlight, move, repeat
-Putting the light in a bag or t-shirt for a misty, ghost like effect
-Using sparklers
-Photographing running water, moving people or cars, or if your a pyro, fire.
-Using different colored lights, or colored glass
-But most of all, experiment! have fun with it, if something works well, please share it with the Kommunity.
