Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
Background: This was written to a friend who was going through an emotionally rough time and needed a pick-me-up. There are a few internal jokes here (the stuffed rabbit and the big indian refers to a childhood toy of mine and a friend who looked out for me - for some reason she really liked that story, so it was referenced here.)
Hello Andi
This is supposed to be an extended affirmation of alliteration
And very bad internal rhyme.
I pray that you’ll forgive me,
As I don’t really know where to start or how to depart
In any situation that requires actually thinking mushy thoughts for an extended period of time.
Let’s start with what I hate about you.
I hate that no matter how much of a bad mood I am in you can cheer me up with a simple smile,
Which is rather frustrating because there are bad moods that need to simmer and sulk
Like a pot of almost boiling water.
But you come in like ice cubes and after just a little while
The bad mood will bow its head and shuffle and skulk
Its way out of the room.
I hate that you love life so much it inspires me to love it as much as you do,
Causing a continuous perplextion as I stare at the reflection
Of a mountain in a puddle of water.
How can something so small hold something so large?
On to what I think about you.
I think that you are a very good, yet often underrated actress because you “suffer” from the cute gene
(May I take a moment and break from form to say that I think you have rather cute jeans?)
And people don’t see beyond that too often,
Which is slightly upsetting.
But when you burst like a lightning bolt onto the scene
The hearts of the crowd tend to soften
And they sit with every attention.
I think that there is much more to you than meets the eye,
And there is a quest for perfection in the reflection
Of the mountain in the puddle
That, if you haven’t gotten by now, is symbolism.
And you probably want to slap me in the face for it.
And like a stuffed rabbit that a little boy lied to all his friends about,
There’s more to you than what’s being let out.
But that’s okay,
Because you have a big Indian friend who will beat up the other kids who try snatch it away
Because that little stuffed rabbit is special,
And not for the world to see.
But for a few to know.
