Why you shouldn't ____ a book?

Why you shouldn't eat a book? Why you shouldn't destroy a book? Why you shouldn't set a book on fire a book? Wait, that last one didn't work.
Why you shouldn't blend a book. Why you shouldn't waterproof a book. Why you shouldn't spoon-feed grape jelly to a book.

Why you shouldn't destroy a book was the question. Srry bout that ^^".
It took all my power to try not to quote the Reading Rainbow theme, but here's one: they help you get away from it all. That's why I read. It takes you to a place where you have no problems, and sometimes, that's the best thing you could want.
(Sorry it's not that funny, but this is serious thread to me.)
1) You can build small structures out of them.
2) Balancing them on your head can improve posture.
3) Reading them can prevent boredom.
4) Reading them can also improve your vocabulary.
5) Useful information may be obtained from them.
6) They may also contain pretty pictures that you can look at.
7) They can be used as a makeshift clipboard.
8) Filling bookshelves with them will give guests the impression that you're more intelligent than you are.
9) If you're ever in an awkward situation, you can whip out a book and pretend to read so that nobody bothers you.
10) A thin book may be used to remedy a wobbly table.
11) A hard book may be used as a weapon in case of emergency.
12) Bugs can be squished with them.
13) Books can be given as gifts.
14) You can sell them on Amazon for cash monaaay.
15) If you're exceptionally short, you can sit on them to reach a high table.
16) They can be used to create fancy pants art installments.
17) Large books can flatten wrinkly documents.
18) Small children can be entertained with them.
19) Heavy books may be curled to strengthen your guns.
20) You can improve your sense of self-worth by donating them to the needy.
21) Textbooks can be used as makeshift hammers.
22) Boring books can be read as a sleep aid.
23) They can be used as doorstops.
24) Standing on them can make you feel taller.
25) You can hide them in people's pillow cases to confuse them.
26) They can be incorporated into the opening of secret passageways.
27) One can be used as a trivet.
28) They can be used in place of a yoga block.
29) They can be used in aerobic step exorcises.
30) If you're in an exceptionally windy area with a bunch of loose papers and no other heavy objects on hand, you can use a book as a paper weight.

If you destroyed them... you couldn't do any of these things. : (

She means you can use a heavy book like a weight. Aka, weightlifting with books! So instead of curling with a 5lb dumbbell, use a book! Some people use full milk jugs.

because books are informational, good, entertaining, helpful, shall i go on?
"Because reading is an act of translation—taking seemingly random scratches on a page and turning them into a story in your head—a book is, more than any new media, a co-creation of reader and writer.

And as reading changes, that mustn’t change. We must preserve that magical moment when the space between you and me evaporates, and we are all of us making a story real together. Bells and whistles are all fine and good, but the writer must not leave the story behind, and the reader must not be allowed to abandon her responsibility as cocreator: she, and she alone, can make a story real."

- John Green (author of Looking For Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns and Will Grayson, Will Grayson)
