I am assisting Hayleigh in the selection of a venue for Georgia.  If you have plans to attend, please verify here so we can get an estimated headcount in order to make a final selection within the next week.  We will be selecting in or near Atlanta.

I am going to try to come. If I do it will be me, my boyfriend and my son who is 5 with autism. Hoping I get to come depends on my back as I just got over a bone infection in my spine and still having a hard time walking!

I suggest in or around The Mall of Georgia (Buford, GA) which would be easily accessible to both MBs living in both Atlanta and Athens, as well as all point north of ATL up to the NC state line.

I have actually been talking with the marketing director of Mall of Georgia for a possible meeting space.  She wanted to know about the meeting, I replied and am currently awaiting her response. The food court there is way too crowded/loud on Saturdays to be considered.    Other areas being considered are a picnic shelter at Perimeter Park, Stone Mountain Park, and a local bowling alley.  Hope to know something soon.

It's been 8 years since I lived in the area, but if you are looking for an outdoor location with cover in case of rain or shade to get out of the sun > > >  there is a really nice little (10-acre) park located at the intersection of Buford Highway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road

My son was in band at Dacula H.S. and they held an end-of-year concert at the amphitheater there when it was newly built and most of the surrounding area was still pine trees and chicken farms. 

I did a virtual drive-by with Google maps and it still looks very nice, although today there is a "town square" type development surrounding it and plenty of food options in walking distance.

Thanks Gumbo, will definitely look into that.  I really hope we can secure something with Mall of Georgia but it's nice to know about additional options in the area. With any luck we will have a location confirmed at some point this week.

In the meantime a Facebook page has been added, 'Mythicon Georgia 2015'.  We will try to post updates here as well as at the Facebook page.  We do invite everyone who is interested in attending to 'Like' the page as a second resource to keep up with the latest information as plans fall into place.

Maybe if you cannot do it at the Mall of Georgia, you could possibly do it at many other places.

For example,

Lenix Mall could be an option.

Along with Atlantic Station and so many other places.

Let's not just focus on the Mall of Georgia and you could start checking if other areas are available.

And also, if we did go to a local bowling alley, would we also be playing bowling with each other because that would be fun or would that cost too much.

In the end, I cannot wait to meet you all!

The Georgia Venue is Now Confirmed!

Sweetwater Creek State Park

1750 Mt Vernon Rd.

Lithia Springs, GA 30122

Location:  Conference Room, Inside the Visitor's Center.

Park requires a $5.00 parking fee per vehicle.

Climate controlled environment and we will have access to audio/video equipment!

Feel free to bring you own food/snacks/drinks to enjoy while at Mythicon.

Mythical Beasts who are fans of the Hunger Games series can visit actual filming locations used in the most recent movie while visiting the park.

Access to Audio / Video equipment is a great feature!!!

Shopping mall food courts have been the venue of choice (simply because that's what the co-creators of the very first MythiCon were going to be doing that Saturday anyhow) but this idea bring it to a new level that hopefully others will grab onto.

We'd be happy to have you there Cheri.  Invite Mom to come along if she likes.  If nothing else, Sweetwater park has some fantastic hikes and scenery she might enjoy, and there are some great restaurants in/near Atlanta!
