Hahaha don't basses play the same six notes over and over in Pachabel? Think about the first violins! 

My brother plays the bass. But he's not a mythical beast...yet.

Yes, but the first violins have the melody and like a bagilion notes but the basses have 6 notes we just replete until the end.

I prefer the bass guitar over the standard/electric/acoustic/spanish ones. It is easier to play and sounds "fuller" than any other instrument.

I play the Double Bass and I can completely relate to this. I haaaaaaaaaaated playing Pachabel's Canon. Sure it sounds pretty, but its a bore to play

I play bass.  Don't know about Pachabel's Canon though.  I have always been into Rush type of stuff.
