Haha! This could be topic for further debate:
"Does herbal tea have a place in the Lovelea Tea forum?"

I think so... Sure, "herbal tea" isn't tea in the strictest sense of the word, but language is flexible. Most any dictionary will include herbal infusions as an alternate definition for the word "tea."

My favorite not-tea is Mighty Leaf's Chamomile Citrus. :)

Tidbit- where I live, if you say tea, it's assumed that you mean hot tea. That is, one does not ask for "hot tea," at a restaurant- just "tea." Then when I went to college in Oklahoma, on my first outing, I was very surprised to be served iced tea when I had just asked for tea, and even more surprised that the waiter hadn't misheard me. My local friends explained "If you wanted it hot, you should have said so," as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. Oh, the culture shock.

I've experienced the same thing in reverse. If you go to a restaurant anywhere in the South, not only will the simple request for "tea" get you an iced glass -- but also you'll most likely get a very sweet tea. I remember stopping somewhere north-ish to eat while on a family road tip, and asking for sweet tea caused the waiter to look at us like we were aliens. "We have sugar you can put in it..." she suggested, furrowing her brow puzzledly. Oh well...

For all of my childhood, I thought iced tea was either made with iced tea powder you buy in cans in the supermarket, or the Snapple or Arizona brand drink.

When I was 13, I had my very first experience with real iced tea. I went over to a friend's house- the dad is originally from Maryland, and the mom lived all over the US. I said yes to their offer of iced tea, and was caught off-guard when, instead of Snapple or Arizona, they pulled out a pitcher with ice and tea bags floating in it.

I remember my thought process at the time being "Oh...these people think iced tea is literally tea with ice in it. How strange! I won't say anything though. I'll just drink it politely... WHOAH, that tastes horrible! How could they possibly think this fake tea was a good idea?"

I forced myself to drink the entire glass of (unsweetened) iced tea, and carried on believing that this family was an anomaly, until my older brother moved to Florida and I found out there that...oh... it's actually a thing.

I like real iced tea much better than Snapple now. It just took getting used to.

Hahaha, I love that you played the polite guest and didn't call them out for making "fake" iced tea. xD

Cultural differences even just among the U.S. regions is so interesting!

I freaking LOVE EARL GREY. Has anyone ever gotten tea from teavana? It's really expensive but its soo good. I like their white chocolate, pumpkin pie, and pineapple kona pop the best. But my average cup of tea is usually green tea with a little almondmilk :)

I like visiting Teavana once in a while, but it's too expensive to be a regular thing. My favorite Teavana tea that I've tried is their ToLife White Tea. It's got strawberry, rosehips, jasmine, etc.

My favorite tea is a loose leaf tea from Teavana, it is an oolong tea called Slimful Chocolate Decadence, a close second is Earl Grey Creme' which is Earl Grey with Madagascar vanilla.
