Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

Well, here I am again. I had some trouble deciding what what this post should be about: TXTSPK, one of the most annoying things of my generation.

What is TXTSPK, you ask? Well you can look at the Komm's chat and there's probably some there. And TXTSPK translates to "Text speak" if you haven't guessed. Speak that you will find the most of in texting, like, for example:

Using the letter U for the word you, Using the letter Y for the word why, posting rly instead of really, and ignoring spelling and punctuation, much to the anger of others.

Seriously, there's just no point to it, TXTSPK, that is. The only reason people use it is: laziness. I don't use it, though, that fact has a draw back: I'm kind of slow when it comes to the Komm chat, reacting late can effect the conversation deeply.

And now I've complained about it, though, there's on thing I didn't mention: O.K.. But I'll save that one for it's own post.

Churbles hopes you'll heed his advice,

Stay mythical, friends.

And thank you Churbles for reminding me that not everyone in your age bracket is lost and clueless when it comes to desiring some things in life to be proper and correct.

Okay, I'm an old fart and all . . . but the part that really grates on my last nerve is when users of TXTSPK think that it should apply to all levels of communication, and so they don't care to learn proper grammar and punctuation regardless of the target audience.  There really is a big difference between a quick text note to your friend and a book report for a grade or letter of condolence for a lost loved one.

I truly cannot wait until the day that the generation that has never known a world without TXTSPK finally makes it into the business world and turns in what should be a formally structured business report to their boss (who will most likely have 20+ years experience on them) and it is summarily dismissed or sent back with a gallon of red ink mark throughs.  If I were in the position of hiring a staff today, the initial interview would include a writing exercise (with pen and paper) . . . Briefly Describe Your Strengths and Weaknesses as Relates to This Job (200-250 words) . . . since most resume's are produced by a paid professional or using an online template.

And that's my two cents worth of rant for the day.  Thank You.
