Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
I usually write about things accepted in current culture that just shouldn't be, but this is an exception. Phonics, how much there is wrong with you, from contradicting yourself often, to things that just shouldn't be, thus, I write what I'm writing. I have a list, and I hope I remember all of it, otherwise I'll make a part two, or another "comments and notes" thing for this one.
Well, let's start with the thing that bothers me the most sometimes: The letter F, or rather, the fakers. I'm talking about Ph and Gh, while I can look over Ph, Gh is the annoying one, for it also makes no sound at all: "Though", or "drought", but then, it still makes the "F" sound, for instance, just take away the H in "though" and you get "tough", there's no pattern here (break in action, I just remembered, thus the edit, "ghost"), this is *precisely* what I'm talking about, Phonics.
And let's continue with a common teaching that's more or less correct, I'm of course talking about "I before E except after C, and when sounding like 'A', as in neighbor and weigh," well how about "Weird", "Science", "Feisty", or "Leisure"? I'm going to leave it at that.
As a last note, I feel like -ctly (Exactly, correctly, directly) should be banned for not being able to be pronounced *in the correct manor* and any word containing -ctly should be replaced with any and all synonyms, and I even put asterisks (*) around instances I avoid -ctly to get you started.
Improve, my generation, please,
sincerely, Peyton/Churbles.
