Laurmdler, I actually do it for the challenge. The only reason I used rhett and link (this time) is because it was available and I had a few clues to work with. I have also done it from photographs found on google images of famous places (like of the Eiffel Tower) from a difference to see if I could pinpoint where the picture was taken from. I do it the same from movie scenes. It is not so must the person as the location that I am trying to find. I get a weird satisfaction the moment I get the exact spot it was taken. In my mind anyways!
It's pretty stalkerish that I look for real life people/locations whenever they mention names and hint at various hobbies and I don't know why I screenshot when I find something. It's so weird! I *know* it's creepy! Why do we do these things? I definitely get a kick out of the puzzle element, but it's not like I do this for everyone. Wth.
I found that also and was shocked and wondered if the person who worked for Google Maps that took this picture knew who they were and if that person was stalking them. Just wondering
@ CAROL - - - BEEN THERE / FOUND THAT
and, one last post today on this topic . . . yet another sighting of the Diamond Shirt at
Does sound like a R&L request as you can see them standing near the studio on the image Gumbo posted. Perhaps it was because they were on an image they showed it was their studio clearly. Either way, they moved on.. now too see how long the current studio is accessible on streetview ;)
I do find it interesting how the street view lines stopped short in all directions around that area... like it was "Area 51" or something. lol
The liquor Palace was actually how I found this location in the first place. In mugger walk there is a split second where the sign for the liquor palace is visible but only says "liquor" so I google mapped all the liquor stores in Burbank and found one on a street that the alley runs straight into a mountain side.. like in the video. Bingo!
YES - - I know also the old studio address on West Burbank - - just didn't want to plaster it here, but what the heck, right?
It's only that I never could, until today, link that location to the image that Ty posted because the screen capture was so zoomed in that I didn't realize they were walking past the liquor store at the South end of the same block.
FYI -- the application which I usually access via Batch Geo only shows the latest version of images found on Google Maps, and it still has a "dead zone" with that section of W. Burbank Ave and the rear alley and the cross street Kenwood / N. Kenwood blocked out from street view access - - as you can see from the missing blue lines for the area around the building - - most likely still at the request of R&L or the building owner / landlord who got tired of people running up to peek thru the windows.
It is my belief that either the blue awning building or the one right next to it was their studio. The parking spots and alley directly behind these buildings is where many outdoor activities and the Mugger walk occurred.
