KCST 4: "The Thief's War Pt 2: The Thief vs. the Witch" by Cameron (Eagadactyl)

As told by Cameron (Eagadactyl)

Read part 1, "The Thief's War" here.

Dusk would have said no but he couldn’t. If someone saved your life you owe them what is called a life debt. It means you must live the rest of your life with the person that saved you unless they say you can go free.

Dusk followed the witch to a cave outside the castle. The cave was dark but far, far down he saw light. As he got closer he noticed they were liquids in the bottles. Then of course he realized they were potions. “Now,” said the witch, “I am trying to make a potion that will kill someone in a single drop! I want you to sit on this bench and wait.” Dusk sat down scared. Was he going to die? Just then he noticed someone there. It was an old man crying.

“Whats wrong?” said Dusk. The man turned around.

“This is the most powerful witch in the country. She has been torturing me since I was 13”. Dusk started to get really scared.

“Is there a way to stop her?” asked Dusk.

“There is one way. We have to make the Sapidus potion,” said the man.

“What does that do?” said Dusk.

The man gave him a look as if to say “are you serious.” “As you know, there are witches and wizards. The witches are evil and the wizards are good. They each fight each other and the most powerful way is to use the Sapidus potion. It turns a witch good. For a witch there is the Nequior it turns a wizard evil,” said the man.  Just then the witch came in. She handed Dusk a potion then yelled "Drink!" Dusk gulped the whole thing down. It felt like his throat and mouth were burning!

"So how does it feel?" said the witch.

"Horrible!" screamed Dusk. The witch walked away.

“Quick, help me find the recipe for the Sapidus potion.” Said Dusk. They ran to the desk and looked through the books. “It was in a book called Potions For Defense,” said the old man. Dusk looked through the books. It was not there. Then he found a cabinet on the side of the desk. It was locked. Because he was a thief he just so happened to know how to pick locks. But he didn’t have anything. He looked around. There were books, a wooden desk, and a wooden bench. Then he figured it out. He would take a sliver of wood from the desk and the spine of a book to pick the lock. He went to the lock. In no time it was open. There was the instruction to make the potions. Dusk got up and looked around. The potion ingredients were in another room. And the other room had the witch in it! They would have to sneak in! They went do the door and slowly opened it.

“Wait here. I was a thief; I know how to do this,” said Dask. The witch was sitting down at a desk that was facing the wall. All the ingredients were on it. He crawled up just on the side of her. The he picked up a rock and threw it at the door. The witch turned around and got up. She then went into the other room. He got up took out the paper and started to brew the ingredients. When he finished it the witch came walking in the door. He took the bottle with the potion in it. She looked furious. Zap! A laser bolt was shot straight beside Dusk. Dusk thought fast and ran head first straight into her stomach. She fell down groaning.  Dask poured the potion down her throat.

“Where am I?” said the witch that was now a wizard.  “Of course that witch got me but thank you so much for curing me!” said the wizard. But Dusk didn’t say anything. He was staring through the door.

“Whats wrong?” said the wizard.

“This old man that helped me is dead.” said Dask. "I dont even know his name."

The story ends by Dusk bringing the new wizard to the other wizards. They considered him a hero and so did everyone else. A statue was made of the old man, and he was buried just in front of it. “I will avenge him,” said Dusk. And on that day he made it his goal to turn all witches good.
