This is so relevant, because today after church the youth group got together and sang this song a couple of us wrote in deep grief over the news of our friend's death. It was on my mind the whole ride home, and seeing this thread I thought I'd post it. So here it is:

Aaron's Song

(1st Verse)
I just heard the news today
And I don't know what to say
I feel a burning in my chest
I want the pain to go away

(Chorus)
You're gone but the memories remain
To live is Christ but to die is gain
I hear your name, I remember your face
Let's run the course
Let us finish the race

(2nd Verse)
So the world keeps moving on
All I can do is sing this song
One day we'll see you again
Because we know this isn't the end

Chorus

(3rd Verse)
And the grace that God provides
Will be sufficient for this day
And as the wounds begin to heal
I'll look to heaven and I'll say

Chorus
I'd like to hear the music that goes with these songs. :) If any of you have them posted anywhere, I'd love to get links!

I've only written one song, but it's still in preliminary stages and not recorded for the public. So far I've just done covers. This song I wrote about going through struggles and leaning on God to get us through. It was inspired by Psalm 69:1-2.

Sure Footing:

(vrs 1)
You feel you're drowning in troubles
You've got no more strength for these struggles
They keep pourin' in
You keep gaspin'
You just can't breath

(vrs2)
The waves are tossing and tearing
So lost you can't find your bearing
None to stand on
To depend on
Please hear my plea

(chorus)
Give me sure footing
So I can keep on treading
I'll continue bearing
If You will be my footing

(vrs 3)
So firm I can't be pretending
Against these storms I'm not bending
You have stilled me
Come and filled me
You heard my plea

(vrs 4)
May others witness Your power
See how You provide for a flower
In the small ways
And in strong ways
And with such ease

(chorus)
You are sure footing
So we can keep on treading
We continue bearing
Because You are our footing

Aaron's Song
I've written and recorded a number of songs in the past few months, most of which are posted on my profile page, as well as the following link: http://ccmixter.org/people/cuajitoben
I haven't recorded any songs as much as I wish I could but I have written a few.
Verse 1,
"I am so happy to be free,
Now i will sing oh joyfully,
Because Jesus walks with me,
He fulfills my every need,"

Chorus,
"So i will pick up my cross and follow you,
Now I am no longer lost and it's all because of you,
So i will walk the path that's straight and narrow,
You promised to guard me from the enemies arrows,"

Verse 2,
"Through every sin of every day,
My savior will say it's ok,
I will love you anyway,
So as I walk this way I will praise you,"

Chorus,

Verse 3,
"In every thing that i do i will always praise you,
For you made every thing new just like the rain and the dew,
And at the end of my days when i get to see your face,
I will look at you and say...... thank you,"

Chorus
Verse 4
"Look around at what he has done,
Now that lives have begun,
Won't you come and sing,
For our God has set us free,
So that we may worship him for all of eternity."

Chorus,

"So now I will go down that road, all the way home!"
Aaron's Song

Here's a link to the Youtube video of our friend Jordan playing the piano and singing the song. Since then we've made changes to the title, lyrics and some of the music. But this is pretty much what it sounds like, except we use a guitar instead of a piano as accompaniment and the tempo is a little faster.
I think the guys are going to actually record it sometime, but I don't know because they've been talking about it for awhile but have never gotten around to it.

I have written a few songs.... I am working on recording rough versions. As soon as they are recorded I will get them up here and on my blogsite: http://conveyingtheflame.org for now here would be a taste of one of the songs I have in the works

Entering the place where He’s called me, I’m trembling with fear
With all I have to hide, do I even belong here?
Did He beckon me, with fragrance on the door?
Has He called my name, I’ve been fooled before.

A powerful yearning still inside of me,
a wonder not deserving yet given to me.
He’s drawn me away from the place that I have known
He’s beckoned me to come and sit beside His throne.

When He looked at me, He saw everything,
And still He said “You’ve ravished me, You’ve ravished me!” (2x)

Though I’m dark He’s called me lovely, though I’m dirty He sees me clean
I will rise and cast away , any guilt that still remains.
I have written a song. I shall post a video soon. It is called, "Give it a Try".
