Rhett, your gifts are in the mail, and I gotta make a list of verbal affirmations for Link.

This explains a lot. At VidCon I was a little surprised that Rhett just out and asked what I was going to mail them next. I think gifts makes sense as Rhett's love language.

About the whole conversation thing, I don't quite feel the same way about it as Rhett. I have to really click with someone in order to have a lengthy conversation with them at the first meeting. I'm also a bit more of a listener than a talker, so if the other person is also a listener there can be the potential for awkward silence. O_o

What should I mail him?  What does he like, or is it only a real gift if I can figure out what the likes without asking?

I don't think it has to be anything super elaborate. Take your time in deciding. :-) I think if you have something unique to your area (candy, trinket, gadget) you could send him that. If you do any sort of craft or art, that's also an option. I think he'll appreciate the effort that you put into whatever you send. ^_^

Okay, thanks, I'll think on it.   Do you know if the current address is still PO 6578,  Burbank?  I've seen other addresses given.

I think that's the right one.

I completely agree with you on the conversation thing. In conversations with most people, I am heavily just the listener. Time talking is likely around 80 / 20 in their favor. So if the other person is similarly quiet, there's no way a 2-hour conversation is going to happen. However, if they are enough of a talker that they can fill that 80, there's at least potential for this fabled 2-hour conversation.

Another listener-type chiming in here...for me, it's sometimes tiring just to be around people who are mainly talkers, even if I am usually more than happy to let someone else steer the conversation. At some point it feels like I'm having more words thrown at me than I can catch, and I start losing interest in keeping up.

I've always seen it as a good sign when I can have extended conversations with a person, but I've also always considered it a better sign when I can hang around a person and comfortably "enjoy the silence," as Rhett said.

Okay, got em.  The affirmations have to be sincere, or they don't work, I think.  I assume.

Link has moved up in the world, largely by his own boot-straps, and by taking a crazy chance that paid off - he went into entertainment, and made it work, enough to support a family and kids.  Dang, that's impressive.  That took guts.

Link grew up with step-dads and moving, all that crap divorce entails for kids, but didn't decide that marriage was too risky -  he got married, and apparently works hard to be a good father and husband and give his kids a stable homelife.  You go, boy.  We are rooting for you and your wife to live to 80 and have a house full of grandkids and great-grandkids at the holidays.

Link claims to be a picky eater, and expressed dislike of many different foods, but ate a huge freaking scorpion on camera because he lost a game.  He. ate. a. SCORPION.   I don't know why that impressed me, but I found that unaccountably admirable, if crazy.  Because I have eaten insects, but I don't think I could have eaten that monstrous thing?  Kudos, in any case.

Well, now I really need to think of some good compliments for Link and good gifts for Rhett. Hmmm......

so funny guys, and ill send some gifts for Rhett and some compliments for link.
