So . . . Link has owned Oakleys, Calvins, and Guccis . . . but has he ever owned a pair of Grouchos?

Just another step in the evolution of his glasses . . . now these certainly make a statement . . . and extreme eyebrow coverage so everyone will know exactly what he is thinking 100% of the time.

I won't lie, I'm gonna miss the tortoiseshell glasses, but the new ones are a nice change.

I'm surprised that Link had kept all of his old glasses. I may have a few of my really old ones in the depths of my closet, but I've also tossed some as well. The most recent pair I threw out were the ones I wore during the "Eggnog Challenge" for the Christmas contest last year. Here's three of my most recent pairs, the tortoiseshell's  being the ones I actually wear.

I think I need to try to branch out and buy something that's shaped different. I did buy a pair of prescription sunglasses that were red plastic aviators.

Haha, yeah. XD I don't know why I haven't thrown them out yet. Those were my "nice" pair, so I hadn't worn them very much. I'm not exactly sure how I broke them, lol.

Here are my last 2 pairs of glasses...I've only owned 3 total, and the first pair is long gone. Top is the older and bottom is the pair I wear currently.

Big style change, haha. My old ones look like old lady librarian glasses. D:

Also, I'm just noticing that the right earpiece is shorter than the left on BOTH frames...apparently my head is misshapen and I never realized.

Man now I wish I could find more of my old glasses. My last pair and current pair are pretty much the same, but prior to that I had a very different style, but I don't think I still have them since I usually only save the last pair for backup.

Link was so nervous and apprehensive about revealing his new glasses! Out of the two new pairs, I definitely like the brown ones better, but both are fitting for him. Though I'm used to the old ones, I'm glad he had the gumption to try a new look that he liked, since he was obviously pretty nervous. Good job, Link!

Also, 4 pairs of glasses since 2006 is a lot more glasses than I've had in that time! What's the standard time people wear glasses? Maybe I'm weird, but I've only ever changed frames when my face outgrew a pair. Given that I'm growing much less now, I probably won't get new glasses unless my current ones break.

Roundup of dates....He said he got pair #2 only a year after pair #1 but only wore them a few months (for some unspoken reason), and said that he wore pair #4 for about 4yrs, so that means pair #3 was worn for ~3yrs...with the exception of the first 2, that fits my experience. When I was a kid/teen my prescription changed a lot over from year to year; I dunno how it works with a grown adult needing glasses suddenly but maybe his prescription changed a lot over the first year or so and he decided to just get new frames along with lenses (don't blame him considering how small that first pair looked!) My eyes change only slightly from year to year now, making prescription adjustments skippable if we want to save money, but I find that even then, my lenses start to get scratched up after 2-3yrs, to a point where it's noticeable. The longest time I've had frames is ~5yrs, replaced those because the finish was wearing off where I push them up and the hinges were getting wobbly (I like half-rims, though, which are probably less structurally sound than full frames). So, getting new glasses every 3-4yrs seems not unreasonable to me, especially if you have the money to afford updating your look whenever you need new lenses due to prescription changes or wear-and-tear.

Lilian's estimate seem about right regarding new glasses every 3 - 4 years. I started wearing glasses in the 8th grade (2003), so I was 13 years old. I've only owned three pairs total since then, and only because my prescription changed slightly, not because I physically outgrew them. (I pretty much stopped growing in middle school...no growth spurts for me!) My prescription never altered drastically between frames--just enough that I noticed a little when sitting in classrooms trying to see the board clearly, so I didn't really have a period of high prescription variation.

I got my current frames near the end of 2011 (using my FB profile photos as a reference, haha), and although I'm starting to see some blemishes on the lenses now, the prescription still seems to be spot-on, so I don't anticipate those changing for a while yet.

I just got new glasses a few months ago because my old frame was bent and I couldn't see straight, seriously I looked like Quasimodo.

Oh dear, those new glasses...not sure I like them. They remind me a lot of the glasses my dad had when I was a kid, a carryover from the 70s and 80s! I guess I associate that style more with "old and uncool" rather than "retro and hip". :P The sunglasses were a bit narrow on Rhett but I kinda think he pulls them off better than Link because he has a longer face. Everyone else seems to be loving them though! I was amused by the comment of "why is matte a man thing?"

I thought the ending was really funny, too - "goosh! goosh!...are those Gooshie?" I propose this would be a good animated ending candidate.
