Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

So, normally as I listen to R&L songs, I like to find the third part to the harmony and sing along. As I listened to the Fireworks Song, lo and behold, I heard the third part being sung!! I loved the way the three-part harmony entered my ear. It was like sound nectar. HA!

My question is, who sang the third part on the chorus? It sounds like Rhett. Or did you have another person sing with you at the same time?

I also hear more layering at the very end. I'm just assuming you recorded and layered those, since one of those higher voices is Link... I'm pretty sure.

Sorry, I'm a music major... I'm really nerdy when it comes to this kind of stuff.

(BTW, The Starburst Dating Advice video is one of my fave videos... HI-larious! I always show that to one of my friends as an intro to R&L)

sound nectar. haha.
i sang both harmonies. Rhett channeled Merle well, i think, for the lead rhythm and inflection:

what say you, music major?
Wow... Would you believe that's the first time I've heard Merle Haggard? Rhett did him justice, I'd say.

I'm also a vocal music major. Gonna be a choir teacher soon! (~_^)
Very good, sounds just like him, or as much as Rhett can sound like him. I remember that Merle is one of his musical heroes, and he named his dog after him, the one you guys took in to get fixed.

Props to you for the harmonies.

Which leads to a follow up question... you, Link, always take the harmony, while Rhett mainly stays with the melody. Very rarely do you guys switch. Is there a reason why Rhett always stays with melody? Is it because he has a lower voice? No complaints at all, just inquisitive!
When we first started singing in a high school band, Link was the lead singer and I was the guitarist, and I sang harmony. I was always singing at the top of my range, and I can tell you that it wasn't pretty.

When we started writing comedy songs, Link took the harmony because we complimented each other better, me singing in a lower register and Link easily hitting the higher harmonies. Every once in a while, we switched up.

But now, we write so many songs and record them relatively quickly, and Link has gotten very quick at laying down harmonies because he's gotten better and better at it.

Honestly, we'd like to switch it up for variety (and we do very ocassionally), but we just usually don't have time for me to figure out the harmony, which would often be lower (and harder to hear and sing).
Ah, makes sense. If you kept singing too high, you probably wouldn't be able to make a career out of singing for very long. Then you'd really be out of a job. At any rate, you guys have a great sound.
Yep.
I'm so glad you added that very important yep, Peter. LOL.
