Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

My mother fell ill (stroke in the brain stem) a month ago, and I was gravely upset (I even had a lot of mental breakdowns these past few weeks). She can no longer eat and had to have a feeding tube (which is just in the stomach, and it's counted as temporarily permanent until they feel like she's ready to eat food again), and she can no longer walk so well and is walker and wheelchair bound. I don't know if we have to use a feeding pump (my baby cousin Hunter had one, I knew how to run it) or just feed her with a huge syringe containing her food.

She can talk, but not so clearly. The one thing that I'm thankful for is that the stroke didn't kill her, but the after effects have started to scare me, because I'm hoping that everything is just a nightmare and it will go away.

She will be coming home on either this coming Monday or Tuesday, so I don't know what to do to prepare myself for the inevitable...so whatever the case, I hope you guys (even Rhett & Link) will understand why I have been gone for so long. Thank you for being here for me in my time of need and taking me under my wing.

Much love,

Voltage ♥

Voltage,

You and your mom will be in my prayers, this is definately one of life's tough situations!

Do you have siblings? Having a brother and sisters to talk about it really helped me through similar times. If you need to talk, hit my kommunity page, I know having friends who've 'been there' can help keep you centered and sane (One of my frends, 11 yrs older than me, took care of her mom, and because of that experience, was later a great help to me, giving practical advice but also even if I just needed to shoot the breeze).

Anyway, it may help you to actually write out a list or loose schedule of things that will need to be taken care of, but please make sure to carve out a little time for yourself to destress, or just to feel.

Thank you, Pam...and I do have an older sister. And I may talk with you and the other Mythical Beasts about this.
