I'm still learning on my acoustic and wondered which ones you prefer?  And were you self-taught or did you take lessons?  Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else.  Keep that snowplow going, guys!

Hmm...I don't have much of preference for strings. I just like the ones that sound good the longest, because I never have a chance to change them. I used Elixir for a while, then downgraded to the D'Addario (sp?) version that's cheaper but seems to work fine.

I taught myself how to play...mostly to be able to write songs. So, the driving force for me learning a new chord or progression or rhythm has always been a new song we're writing.

Thanks for asking!
That makes me feel a little more confident, because I am teaching myself how to play drums, acoustic, bass, piano, and recorder, but I don't think I am cut out for piano, because I have extreme issues with doing intricate things with my left and right hands at once. Oh yeah, I would be teaching myself how to play electric also, but I don't have one yet.
