Regarding Florida in the BBQ Song

I showed a coworker from Florida the BBQ Song. She loved it, even the is Florida a southern state part. Although, she did make a point to clarify that while south of Orlando is definitely not southern, the rest of the state is. Apparently, she is from north of Orlando...

Anyway, she pointed something out that I hadn't noticed in the video previously. During the part about Florida, you show an image of California, instead of Florida. How did I not catch that before? What kind of fan am I, anyway?

Don't answer that. But I am wondering why the California reference? Is lumping Floridians with Californians a kind of southern inside joke?

I come from a place very south of Orlando, and it's SO true. I don't even think Orlando is really the limit. I would say anything outside of Miami-Dade County is pretty "Southern". Seriously. Miami-Dade is pretty much Northern Latin America.

They explain it all in the video of the concert/after-party-thingy from the 8/29 movie premiere/screening.

Don't flog yourself too much over it. I didn't notice the mistake with either state (yep, there are two) and I'm usually pretty observant about stuff like that. You prolly just got too caught up in the music to notice "minor" details. At least that's the excuse I'm using!

Nice. Just watched it. Yeah, I was kind of thinking myself that it had to be intentional. Now I feel so disillusioned.

I was also going to ask why Virginia wasn't included in the song, what with Richmond being the capital of the confederacy and everything... Glad to see we weren't left out after all... but kind of offended that we'd ever be confused with Kentucky! ;)

Doesn't that just make Miami-Dade extra southern, with all the South American influence? :)

yes...the benefits of watching live "insider" concerts. You never know what you're gonna learn.
