Well as a Cephas76 says "CONGRATUSTINKINLATIONS" my was graduation today.(1) And to anyone who did watch the webcast, I'm sorry to say that I didn't fall or snatch at the diploma on stage (diplomas were handed off stage). So convocation went off without a hitch. I did make a feeble attempt to pretend to snatch at the ceremonial mace that is over 50 years old.(2) (Didnt get a reaction out of the audience though since my face and mind blanked). Now I'm a little tired, maybe it was the camera flashbulbs or the fact that I need to pick up new prescription glasses this week or the fact that I saw an elementary school chum I haven't seen since junior high school (grade 9), but I can honestly say I'm glad I went and got to hear my name (instead of hearing: I now pronounce those who weren't here graduates in absentia) I also got to hear I pronounce you graduates of st. Micheal's college, except for the man who was yelling: SMC spirit. Can't wait until the webcast is archived so I can watch the funny parts again: snickering, posing, and chanting. I got to shake the hand of the honorary speaker who i suspect had a spicy character in her youth, (now Dr.) Nona Macdonald. So I end this portion of the blog, unsure if anyone reads these thinking (as always) with a bit of contentment (sugar)... and a grain of salt (*sigh* I mixed metaphors again. See not hearing Link's snowplow analogy changes one to make strange proverbs of one's own?). The sugar is that the world can be my oyster. I am young and still have many possibilities and dreams I can pursue. The salt is that I have work tomorrow (3). It is a part time (30 hours a week) that I have had since my first university summer. I loath the short-staffed, meticulous and office politics tactics of the co-workers, but at least there is one saving grace there. But I shall enjoy the evening as it is... Mine and with memories.
