Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

I took the test this morning and I managed to at least finish the test but good grief it was a tough one. My complaint is this:

I am a teacher, not a psychology major and the test really focuses on educational psychology. I have had only one semester which in my opinion is really not enough for the amount of information therein.

If I were a doctor or nurse, it would make sense that I would use medical language daily and with my patients and or colleagues at work. for example, "You have a 29 year old male patient in room 312 that is known to be asthmatic for 15 years. He is presently on day 4 with a history of steadily increasing exertional wheezy dysponea with a cough that is producing green sputum."

Point being, educators do not use the teaching and educational psychology language to talk to our students or even the other educators. I have yet to walk ino the teachers lounge and here a conversation that goes like this, "I was trying to develope my complex learning enviroment today based on the constructivist theory of Piaget, while establishing an intersubjective attitude with my students. " I seriously doubt that even half of the teaching staff would even  know  a fraction of this stuff.

Oh well....so much for my little rant. I am quite at peace about it now.

happy saturday to all...

I agree to certain extent with you Dani. the more that you use it the more you know it. I am always amazed by the lack of vocabulary and language skills of my high school students. I teach Visual art and use the subject vocabulary, including the italian and french terms for art and techniques. I have taken both Praxis tests and scored extremely well on those. One of them you have to expound on your own art work using the correct language used in art. But I don't generally have cause to use educational psychology language in art class. As for using the theories and principles to teach art, yes.
