Allergies

So, I know I'm not the only one allergic to something.  What are you guys allergic to?

I found out the hard way that I'm allergic to latex. Apparently there are a lot of people that are allergic to latex.

I had been at the doctor's office because my mom and me thought I had a really bad case of eczema. No matter what we did it would not go away. The doctor looked at my chest and said it was only staying on one side of my body. She said it was shingles. That meant I had to keep that area covered with gauze and medical tape until it went away.

I went back to school the next day and was finally able to go to lunch. (I was hungry after all.) While talking to my friend Brandon, he mentioned I was turning really red. I looked down but couldn't see anything. I went to the bathroom and noticed my whole chest had turned bright red and was making its way up my neck.

I went to the nurse immediately who said I must be having an allergic reaction to something. I hadn't eaten anything then remembered the medical tape I had used to hold the gauze in tape. Once we got the tape off my rash went away and we guessed that it might have been a latex allergy.

A week or so later a group came to talk at my high school about staying in school and graduating. We all got bracelets that said "Commit to Graduate." I put on the bracelet and ten minutes later my cheeks had turned blotchy and I had trouble breathing. I went to the nurse, again, and she told me to take off the bracelet. It was made of latex.

That's how we found out I'm allergic to latex.
