While I can say it's been a while since I read The Hobbit, I can say that that's more of a reference than an appearance, though I'll step up again saying that, they made a big deal about a LOT of nothing things, and I'll still consider him one.

Oh, and bouncing off of that making something out of nothing, Radagast, at least to my recollection, was not in the book.

Since you are new here, I'll try to give a few tips to help you get familiar with the workings.  First off, check out the Rhett & Link 101  page that I left in my standard welkomm note below.  It will explain a  lot.

Second, get into the kommchat any time you have a question or need assistance.  Most of the regulars there are always more than glad to lend a hand.

Finally, when you want to converse with someone, post a comment on their wall like I am on yours.  Another MB will only see your status post only when looking at your wall page or if they happen to catch it in the "Recent Actions" section on the kommunity home page.
