Only acceptable when purposefully going completely overboard for comedic effect.

Example:  WHEN YOU REALATIZE DERE WUZ LAXATIVE IN YO MILKSHAKE!

Pardon my manners, but it's either ". . . there was A laxative. . . " or ". . . there were laxatives. . . "
