And there it is, with the bezel back in place. Still need to put the screws in from the bottom and put all covers back. I tested the keyboard putting any screws in, to save time. Works perfectly.

Definitely!

Just 15 Euros delivered, and with the old keyboard acting up (some keys were slow to actuate) and all that dirt and stickiness, it made sense to me. I'm a keyboard person, so a good working keyboard is "key" to me (pun intended).

Changing to a US layout made sense to me, because pretty much any kind of programming feels simpler with a standard US layout and AltGr US Intl key mapping.

I'm looking into changing the touchpad, too. I found some replacement touchpads (new from China) for 20 Euros, which is a bit expensive. I'll see if I can find a used, broken laptop that uses the same touchpad and salvage it from that.
