My cousin has been in a couple fire fights. He says the actual combat can be scary sometime but its mostly a rush of adrenaline. Hes lost a couple close friends right next to him. Took him a while to get over it. He says hes not in the army to kill the enemy, but to serve and protect a country hes proud to be a part of.

Well, the power outage at Camp Lejeune was no fun! Cold weather was the topic of the day and no one had a lot of good to say about it. But everything has come back online and Marines and Sailors are warm again. Been an interesting day. Just thought I'd share.

My husband is a retired Air Force officer. We wholeheartedly support military members and their families. Spent time in Mississippi, Oklahoma, Nebraska, California, and North Dakota. Wherever we were, we got involved on the base and in the local community. The Air Force was a great way of life and we both miss the people and the places.

I have an Uncle in the special forces and a cousin who is in training for the air force and my Grandpa helped deliver ammunition to and from bases. I respect them all and am very thankful for what they and everyone else serving are doing for our country.

Appreciation for all the support and here is to all the International Beasts. Working in Afghanistan with troops from so many different nations just makes me want to visit all your countries when I get home.

I really do HATE that I somehow missed this group for so long and had not it joined until today.
For the past several years, I have been lucky enough to help through contribution and service hours with several worthy support groups through my job and it's "GOOD WORKS" committee . . . North Texas Food Bank, St. Philips School & Community Center, Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, Ability Connection Texas, just to name a few. But the ones that have become closest to my heart are those which support our active military and veterans groups.

Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas
Mission Statement: To support American men and women serving abroad in harm's way by supplying them with goodies, needs and comforts of home, along with thoughts and prayers, to let them know that we, at home, care and support them and that they are not forgotten.
Even the simplest items (lip balm, suntan lotion, batteries, coffee, deodorant, air fresheners, snacks, candy, etc.) really brighten the lives of the soldiers, and give them a little reminder of love and support from home. ACT shipped over 2,700 cartons of donated goods in 2012.
Every time that our office has packed boxes for the Angels they have asked if we could include a few personal notes of encouragement along with the toothbrushes, foot powder and beef jerky. My wife wrote this up (the names have been changed to protect the Gumbos) and I formatted and printed on Thank You cards which have been included one in each and every box . . .
