Miss Piggy. In The Great Muppet Caper, there's that part where she's pacing around the jail cell, as if waiting to get rescued, but then she bends the bars and rescued herself. I was three the first time I remember seeing it and knew then I always wanted to be able to rescue myself. She's a good role model for little girls.

Between Pepe the Prawn and Gonzo would have to be my favorite "brand" Muppets; however, there is little merch with their characters. I also like a lot of the various obscure Henson characters, Muppet or otherwise.
