Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
The Kommchat such as it is, doesn't support themes. The idea is to add this functionality back, ona local, per-user level. I'm also doing it the easiest way possible.
My favorite browser for textual stuff is Firefox. I know, Chrome is the most widely used browser right now, but still, why not.
With my current theme, my chat window looks like this:
To achieve this, first you need to install the "Stylish" Plugin, which is available for Firefox and Chrome. It is originally made for Firefox, the Chrome plugin doesn't work just as good, but it still works OK, with little changes.
You can of course look for the plugin in the web stores, etc.
Now, once that plugin is installed, you should see a new icon in the upper right corner, next to the URL bar.
Click on it, and select "Manage Styles", You'll see a new tab opening, with probably no installed user styles. From here on, Firefox and Chrome are a bit different, but overall, it shouldn't be too complicated.
Click on "Write New Style", it'll open a new empty text box. (On Firefox, this opens a new window, on Chrome, it just changes the current tab).
You should fill the "Name" bar with something meaningful, I named my "RaL Chat Window", but whatever you name it, it's fine. On Chrome you have to tick the "Enabled" checkbox.
Now you need to put in the code into the big large box. You can use my theme, of course, but I encourage you to play around with the values, see how it changes stuff! I haven't commented the CSS source code yet, I might do that in the future, though.
Just copy all the text (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C), and paste it into the text box (Ctrl-V).
On Chrome there's the line below the text box named "Applies to", and a button next to it "Specify", click on that button and then put the URL of the stand-alone chat into there, which is http://rhettandlinkommunity.com/chat/index/popOutWindowV4
There is no other way to tell Chrome this style applies only to the Chat Window of the Komm site. In Firefox this is part of the source code. If you don't do this, this style will apply to all pages, this might make some pages look a bit weird, etc.
OK, now it's just a matter of clicking on the "Save" button, and double check if the style is enabled.
The Style will be automatically applied when you open the popped-out chat.
I'm planning to make maybe one or two more styles, which I'll link in here as well. Tell me if that's to your liking and if there are any questions - well, this is a discussion after all...
Styles
I'll add the styles people and I create, here.
CuSO
That's what I call the theme mentioned above. It's mostly blue with dark and light grey foregrounds.
CuSO - IRC
This one is to look the chat window like an IRC client window. Something like Weechat or Irssi. It uses the same color scheme as CuSO
