I've had an unexpected week off from school due to the snow/cold, so I took the opportunity to make myself a pair of gloves. There's a few minor things I wish I had done differently with these, but overall I think they came out alright.

I love those!  I have been wanting to make myself a pair of houndstooth gloves. Those came out great - where did you find the pattern?  I like your color choices

Thanks! I actually just did a google search for houndstooth knitting charts and picked one that I liked. Everything else I made up as I went. I did make a swatch to get the dimensions that I needed, but that was pretty much the extent of my planning.

As for actually making it, I had knitted the pieces flat with no shaping. When I seamed the side I statrted from the bottom and I stopped at the point where the base of my thumb begins.  I would pick up stitches every few rows (sorry, I don't remember how many) and continued until I had enough to wrap around my thumb. Then I knitted the thumb to the length I wanted. After that I seamed the thumb and the rest of hand part.

Every year I sell what I make at craft fairs, but since a lot of patterns are copyrighted I can't (legally) sell things I make from them. That was kinda the push that got me to start making things without patterns. The projects don't always pan out, but it's still fun to try. :-)

Thanks! I didn't have much else to do with my time, so I was able to work on it quite a bit in a short amount of time.

Very cute! Is that a K1 P1 rib?

awesome!  It has to be one of her favorite things :)
