Being from Brooklyn NY, you can't help but get a ticket now and then. The most i ever paid was $600. $300 was for a 3 ticket set, no front plate, expired registration, expired inspection sticker. A terrible set of circumstances were the reason for all 3 tickets. My windshield was cracked and was waiting for my insurance people to send a crew to replace it. Can't get inspection sticker w/ a cracked windshield so ticket #1. I had the new registration sticker on the dashboard because I was waiting for the windshield to be changed, but apparently the cop didn't see it so ticket #2. some one hit my car while parking and knocked off my front plate which was lying on the floor when I got back to my car, and again the cop didn't see there so ticket #3. But wait there is more! That only adds up to $300. what was the other $300 for? The Sherrif's fee and towing! Yep, in NY if you fail to pay your ticket(s) that are over $300 you can get towed. So while I was waiting to hear back from the court system since I was fighting the tickets, my car was towed!!! great place I live in.

I have been a driver for almost 12 years. I've never gotten a speeding ticket until This past Tuesday night Sept 22, 2009. The police officer said I was go 50 in a 35. I was not going that fast.
I always look at my speed when a police passes me. SO, I thought I was safe. Then I looked in the rear view mirror and he turned around and then there were those pretty spinning lights. I pulled over and got my registration out and then my license. He said I was going 50 in a 35 and talking on my cell phone (I don't use a cell phone while driving) I am a dinosaur when it comes to cell phones. I told him I wasn't on a cell phone. In fact I had to search where it was. It's my emergency phone only. He took all my stuff to his car and I was scared becasue this was a first for me. I had my 2 year old in the back seat. She says, "Hi!" Of course he didn't reply. (How Rude). He came back like what seemed hours and gave me the ticket. He could have charged me for not signing my car registration( I had no clue I was suppose to sign that). He didn't charge me for that because he's a good guy not like the other police he mentioned. The fine came to $154.00. He shared with me I can go to court to get it reduced. Why didn't he just do it there? That's my 1st speeding ticket story.
No tickets. I've only been driving for around 4 years, but still a clean slate.
I got a $70 ticket for turning right on red without stopping... damn those cameras!
The only ticked I ever got was a "parking" ticket. But it was technically for running a red light camera. I didn't run the light, i was forced into the intersection by an 18-wheeler (which you could see in the picture!), but I had to pay anyway!
Sad that you had to pay this. My ticket was unfair as well. I was terrified when i got in to court that I just paid the fine. I just had to stay ticket free for a year so it won't be on my records. I did it. Only because I became afraid to drive. Silly I know.

i've never gotten a speeding ticket, but one time when i was very very young, my dad got pulled over by a police car. when he was talking to the cops i stuck my head out of the car, and asked the police ''are you a good cop, or a bad cop?''   the cop kinda stuttered for a second, and said ''eeh.. ehh, a good cop''   aaand he didn't gave my dad a trafic ticket : )    kids can be so helpful sometimes
Love it.

It's been several years now, but had a really heavy foot in my younger days. Not proud of it now, but I actually received 3 speeding tickets in the same week while in college. I also recall that LSU Campus Police have no sense of humor when it comes to parking in the proper color coded lots - - - on graduaiton day I received an empty binder with an invitation from the bursar's office to stop by for a chat and, in exchange for $127 in unpaid parking tickets, could pick up my diploma.

On recollection, over the 35 years I've been driving - - - tickets have been issued in my general direction while driving in 7 different states.
