As someone with an art history background, I fully understand that conceptual or abstract pieces -- particularly from the Modernist and Contemporary movements -- are difficult to "read" without some background about the theoretical and methodological trajectories of those movements...however, I'm a little tired of people making fun of art just because it's easy to do. It's okay if you don't understand or connect to a piece. Instead of belittling a piece or the creator of a piece you find mystifying, just move on and find something that does speak to you!
