I discovered jrock and jpop through anime. Even though I don't understand the lyrics, I love litening to Japanese bands.
What bands have you discovered?

I've recently discovered these genres also! My favorite bands are:
Alice Nine!!!!! <3333333
An Cafe
Nightmare
The Gazette
2NE1
BigBang
G-Dragon
Kanon Wakeshima
and a lot of random anime openings such as Luvly Merry Go Round by Pipo Angels, and Kimi=Hana by Pigstar.

Oh! and of course, the Caramelldansen by Caramell xP

(I've found that jpop/jrock is much better than american music... not sure why though)

You have some great selections in there as well as a few I haven't heard. I'll have to check them out.

L'arc-en-Ciel
Gallhammer
Sigh
Candy Spooky Theater
Malice Mizer
Moi Dix Mois
Japan X
Maximum the Hormone
The Slants (not from Japan, but a good band)
Anything by Yoko Kanno (and the Seatbelts)

....and many more, of course. And if you want to see any live keep your eyes peeled for Polysics, Smile DK, Direngrey, Peelander Z, and The Slants. They have all played in Texas and/or at conventions, which means there is a good chance of catching them on tour. They all put on great shows.

I haven't found anyone else who knows of them until this moment. That makes me so happy.

I discovered Japanese music the same way as you did (via anime openings and endings) and I feel the same way about it too. I can sing to the songs word for word with enthusiasm without knowing what the lyrics actually mean, their music is just too good. I found SCANDAL and YUI from the anime Bleach and have been a fan of them ever since. Other Japanese artists I know are Aya Hirano, AKB48, K-ON and definitely vocaloid :)

I discovered Masayoshi Yamazaki (山崎まさよし) through Makoto Shinkai's wonderful 5 Centimeters Per Second. I am absolutely addicted, and he is now one of my favorite artists! In addition to "One More Time, One More Chance", I'd recommend you check out　"セロリ", "中華料理", "月明かりに照らされて" and "真夜中のBoon Boon".
