SUGGESTED RETURN TRIP ROUTE ? ? ?

My proposed route is I-10 from Los Angeles thru Phoenix and El Paso, then spolit off at the I-20 merger and take that all the way to Atlanta, then I-85 North thru Charlotte and you're almost home!  I'll buy the BBQ when you get to Dallas.

When I first saw their route I was a little confused why they chose to go north first, but then I saw that Butt Drugs was on the list. I figure they wanted that to be a stop and planned accordingly. My only advice would be to go AROUND DFW and not through it. From experience, driving a large truck in traffic is not fun! I put it on par with driving through Manhattan, which I've also done...

I-20 thru DFW not really an issue as it avoids the conjested downtown areas of both cities . . . heck, it might even be a nice change of pace after the hours and miles of boredom that is West Texas desert travel from El Paso.

OKAY, best of luck talking them into this one . . . an additional 1,480 miles and 22:15 drive time added onto the return trip, even using the quickest route possible and no stops after their little jaunt up to your neck of the woods will most certainly require either a very convincing story or much a larger bribe than free BBQ at lunch.

= 4,029 miles / 60:05 

 

BONUS:  with my proposed Southern route they get to avoid the State of Missouri all together!

This will never do. They miss Wisconsin completely! I suggest a further swing to the north through Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, with an overnight stop at my house in Madison, WI, to meet my family. Then they can head south from there. Sound good to everyone? I'll make meatloaf.   ;)

They should take a northern, longer route home, since they won't be on a tight schedule, and then all us northerner folks will have a chance to meet up with them.

I VOTE FOR THE SOUTHERN ROUTE!!!!!!! I LIVE IN LOUISIANA AND IT WOULD BE AMAZING TO MEET THEM! I REALLY WANT THEM TO SEE THIS!!! ADVERTISE PEOPLES!!!

I don't think they're planning a return trip at all, guys. Rhett just tweeted, "there is no back to Fuquay. We're moving to LA. at least for a while."
