Things that don't work as Christmas presents

OK, Christmas is almost over, but I think this this question kinda still lingers in the back of my head.

What things are not too good as Christmas present?

I can actually think of many things, one of those would be getting any kind of pet. An animal was always a family member to me, so getting one for Christmas, would feel weird. To me, a pet is much more than an object you give someone for Christmas or something. Things that are obviously undesirable, things like moldy bread or spoiled underwear.

Giving presents was never a big thing in my family, we usually concentrated on things like clothes, one or two electronic thing, and mostly nice little things. There were no expensive presents for Christmas in my family.

To the list of stuff I wouldn't want to get really, is pretty much any kind of electronic device, that would require my selection. I'm a computer scientist and electrical engineer, so I'm very picky about that. I don't care for jewelry. Maybe that's because I'm a dude, who knows. I'm very fond of getting after shave, socks, underwear. I don't have to get that myself, so yeah...

If you'd get me a book, I'd never be mad at you, but music on things like CDs, meh... Vinyls however, is a whole different story!
