Diamond moved like a typical human in the day light, just walking toward the metro station. Ace didn't even know she was gone. Going to Shantel's apartment building, she got into the elevator and went to the 36th floor. As soon as the elevator doors opened, she made her way to 3601. Shantel was crying in some man's arms.

"Officer!" Diamond called, "You have to let me through! That's my sister! Is everything okay?!"

I hope I'm not making a big mistake.

Sweat slid across a young boys face as he lay curled up in a quiet apartment. He looked barely eight or nine. But his face was painted with a grimaced look, as if he was trying to hold something back.  Voices...so many voices...such pain. He knew that he could control his mind, but there had been such a rise in power and urgency in the voices that he could't shut them out. Then, and quick as they arrived, the voices were silenced. The boy flinched, wha-? It...its quiet......I DID IT!!!!!  He stood up relieved. He blinked twice, hiding his bright purple eyes momentarily.  He took a quick look at the clock hanging on the far wall by the kitchen and playfully leaped on the sofa on his right; grabbing the remote for the TV and switching it on.  Time for his favorite show, Spongebob Squarepants. A few minutes later there was a rustle at the door, and sound of turning keys and a grocery bags. "Dylan! I'm home!" The boy turned to look at his mother placing the bags on the kitchen counter."They didn't have the spongebob Mac-n-cheese, so I got you the scooby doo ones. I hope you don't mind. Dylan groaned,

"But that one tastes funny!" His mother sighed and rolled her eyes,

"Fine... I'll eat it." Dylan flipped back around and continued watching his show. "Did you get any more headaches while I was gone? Hmm?...Dylan?" She put down the blue box and walked over to the couch. She kneeled in front of him and stroked back his wispy blonde hair. "Buddy...you have to tell me when it happens. The doctor said to take the meds right when you get them." She sighed, and lead her head onto his chest as he seemed to pay no mind to her.  Dylan could feel the warmth of her cheek on his chest, and it drove into his heart like a knife, ripping away the walls he built up. He could hear it all, her every thought. It rushed into his mind... Why won't he listen to me? It has been four years since that horrible day, the day he went crazy. He said that he heard voices in his head, the songs of those gone, and the dream of those to come. What mad rabble had possessed the boy? The doctor had said he was insane, needing toxic drugs to repress the hallucinations. But nothing worked.  Nothing...

Dylan shut the gap in the wall of his mind, and could only continue to endure the pain of the teardrops that continued to dampen his shirt.

( thanks for coming over, Andrew! This is fantastic!)

(My pleasure! I've missed doing this for a while now! :D)

"Oh, Diamond!" Shantel cried holding her arms open. "My baby sister! Come here!" With Diamond wrapped tight in her arms, the police officer let her go. "I was so worried about you, darling! I am so glad you weren't here when this happened!"

Shantel smiled to herself. This meant war would be brought down upon Ace and she had her little gem sheltered.

Delia snapped up and grabbed Thanis' arm, twisting it through instinct.

"What do you want?" She asked tiredly, releasing her surprisingly strong grip.

"We were spied on the other night on the dock. I tracked her down and made a deal with her."  Thanis said, towering over her, as she was still sitting.

"What kind of deal?"

"She is going to bring the boy, and possibly the girl, to the warehouses. We leave her alone, we get them. I need you to come along."

"Why me?" She asked, standing up and meeting his gaze as she stood only slightly shorter than him. Which was not unimpressive at all.

"You're the fastest, now come on." Thanis said, fading into nothing.

After talking to him, Dylan's mother went into her room and had not returned for quite a while. He knew exactly what was going on and he didn't know how much more he could take.  Dylan set his face and hurried into his room. He had made up his mind, and nothing would change it. The cedar wood dresser creaked as usual, as he rummaged through his drawers shoving cloths and toys into his Spongebob backpack. That should be enough. Dylan scratched his head, trying to remember something. Ah, I'll need some money. He crept over to his mothers room across the way and turned the doorknob painstakingly slow as to not wake her up. Second drawer from the top. that's where where keeps her wallet. His small fingers fumbled with the wallet as he pulled out two tens and a twenty. Dylan, retreated from the room and closed to door silently. Tears rolled down his face, It's better this way. I don't want to hurt her anymore. He exited the apartment and headed for the elevator. It's a long trip from the 36th floor.

(Lara and I agreed that I can have control of Diamond in my posts and vice versa)

After the police had gone and her apartment was wrapped up tight, Shantel walked out with Diamond. They would go to her safe house and await Thanis's signal that he did in fact have Ace. Once Ace was taken care off everything would be okay... everything would go back to normal.

Dylan pressed on the elevator button. It lit up, and the whirring of the motor could be heard. When the doors finally opened, he glanced behind. Two women, very close together, were making their way over. Dylan figured they wanted in, so he held it open.

Smiling, Shantel walked a little faster to the door. Both her and Diamond entered and then the elevator was again on it's way. Diamond could feel her head spinning around this boy, there was something off about him. He wasn't normal. She tapped her fingers on her belt in a pattern to see if he would respond to the waves of motion they gave off. She began breathing in a pattern as well, two short breaths then one long. There were so many ways to detect others like herself, but she could only do so many at a time.

Shantel was more oblivious to the boy, but once she noticed Diamonds odd patters, she became uncomfortable. Her mind became more clear and she found that something felt to be prating at her mind.

The two women entered the elavator, and dylan felt something stir immediately. He relaxed and slowly opened his mind. At first he couldn't find anything, but soon enough, he felt his mind brushing up against their thoughts. The first one was softer and easier to hear. The second was almost silent, almost like a wall was built up around it. He couldn't tell who was who, until he noticed the patterns coming from one of the women. She seemed to be sending a signal, almost like morse code. But he had no idea what it meant. Curiosity got the best of him and he started probing and feeling aroung the mental wall he had found. There had to be a way in. He unknowingly closed his eys and sat down in the elevator, focusing all his mind to the task. His thoughts raced around and around the wall, over and over. Searching, and probing. When he finally found a crack, his momentum was so great that it blew through the gap and slammed into her mind. He could hear the woman gasp as he raced through her every thought at breakneck speed. His eyes flew open and he held his head in terror. He could't stop, nothing was left unturned. Every secret, every fear, every joy. It didn't stop, he looped over and around them trying to slow down. His face had now twisted into a terrible grimace, "NO NO NO! MAKE IT STOP!"
Diamond immediately slammed her Hand on the elevators emergency stop button. She needed to remain calm. The button have off an annoying beeping noise, but he ignored it. Looking at the young boy, she immediately put up the wall he had broken threw back up. Once she could see his heart beating back inside his chest, she looked over at Shantel. They both knew what this meant. He looked terrified of them.
"I know what you can do." Diamond said softly, calmly. "My name is Diamond."
She could still feel his heart racing, the sweat drenching his palm, the fear inside his enigma of a brain. They had something in common. Diamond wasnt one to be able to clearly express her abilities either. Ace could set things on fire, she could create nearly anything out of anything with her extreme intellect and render things invisible then move them to where ever she wanted. She could connect with the boy.
A smile broke her solid appearance. "I'm not here to hurt you."
