Uh... 9 times out of 10, I'M the really strange one. I'm usually in the presence of really boring people.

But rude people... I've been around plenty of rude people. I live near D.C. Ha.
hey sara, as there any particular moment that stands out to you? like something specific?

Well, when I was hanging out with my much calmer best friend, Kat, over Labor Day weekend, we were walking down the street of Old Town Alexandria and she brought up the possibility of going to the movies and I started skipping and singing excitedly... We were surrounded by people, because everyone apparently goes down there for Labor Day. There were glares thrown. But I deflected them.

And, let's see. Rudeness... I hardly ever remember cos I try to forget. One of my fellow volunteers was rude to me two weeks ago at the Holocaust Museum. She told me to "just shut up and let the elevator doors close, because I've worked here for ten years and I know more than you". I smiled and said "okay", then went back to working the way I was taught! She kept giving me mean looks. I think she doesn't like me because I'm cheerful. ???

She might've just been having a bad day. A bad day that's lasted all the time I've known her? :/

Well, we do a little spiel as people get in the elevator, about the rules of the museum. No photography or cell phones, where the restrooms are, etc. It takes roughly two minutes. And she thought I was taking too long, even though I was saying what I was supposed to say, and much more rapidly than certain other volunteers... I think she picks on me because I'm young. I curse my youth every day. But cheerfulness is promoted there, cos it's a heavy subject and we're supposed to counteract it. Except for Grumpy Pants.

Is this a venting discussion? XD
the discussion is to just hear the stories of the kommunity members, and i just wanted to know a little more about your story. and how old is your fellow volunteer?

I think about mid 50s - early 60s...
. . . and so are a lot of young people too ~ ~ just an old fart retaliating for a disparaging elder comment made by Kevin / Allidillo (an otherwise apparently polite young man)

some old people are just all around grumpy

um, I'd rather not talk about it. Let's just say, the hobo birthed a skunk.
