Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
In Fall 2014, there will be a new Series on Cartoon network called "sonic boom" following the adventures of everyone's favorite speedy hedgehog, sonic, and his two-tailed genius fox sidekick, Miles "tails" Prower. the series will be ins CG animation, and will include fan favorites such as Knuckles the echidna, and amy rose. also, Dr. "eggman" Robotnik will once again be the center of the series antagonists. no, i am a huge sonic the hedgehog fan, and i, like most of tv watchers, know that cartoon network has some pretty screwed shows. but they have failed to "suck the life" CN style, out of hit franchises like star wars(star wars the clone wars) and How to train your dragon(dreamworks: dragons). this discussion is for sonic the hedgehog fans, and their opinions on this upcoming show, and if it will be REALLY watchable, compared to both good shows and bad shows.

I've been a fan of Sonic and co since 2006 and I've a few episodes of Sonic X, AoStH and SatAM, but Sonic Underground is the best Sonic cartoon in my opinion. As for this "Sonic Boom"... I don't know how original it will be. All of the previously mentioned cartoons (with the exception of SX most of the time) were reasonably similar in plot: Eggman/Robotnik set out to rule the world, Sonic heard about his plan, he and his friends set out to stop Eggman, the good guys win and maybe they gain a new friend along the way. I can't see how this new show will be any different to that. On the redeeming side of the coin, I do think the animation will impressive given the CGI in recent StH video games.
I live in Australia and CN is a pay-TV channel over here, so I don't know this will even make it onto free-to-air viewing, let alone when. If it does come to free TV, it won't be for about 2 years after it finishes airing in America anyway.
No problems Will. I will openly admit that I never got around to watching Sonic X season 3, only season 2. Sonic Underground was so different to everything else because it was set in an AU, and was actually based off a hand-held game on something looking similar to the McDonald's happy meal toys from the photos I've seen. I could be wrong, but I thought AoStH had some sort of "dark" storyline? I sorta of thought it might be more like SatAM, although I suppose only time will tell...
In relation to the repetitive plots, I guess there is only so many storylines you have based of the StH franchise, although I think they should make a cartoon out of the comics, just so Sonic fights a different villain.
Thank you for the idea about YouTube... I didn't even think about that.
Awesome... I'll look it up. Not living in America, I'm not 100% sure I'm right here but from what I've read on the internet, "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Sonic the Hedgehog" were released about the same time and people kept getting them mixed up. Fans then "renamed" (so to speak) them to AoStH and SatAM respectively (SatAM due to the fact it was on a Saturday morning). Again I'm not certain, but I believe most of the Sonic cartoons were released before I was born (1996) or when I was very young as I can't ever remember watching them on TV. I know Sonic Underground was around 1999 and Sonic X was closer to 2005/2006, but I'm not sure about the other two. I know Australia got SX on free TV as a mate of mine watched it as a kid on TV, but I don't know when or on what station.
I haven't read the comics for ages. I used to get them every time they came out for about 6 months a few years ago but then they became almost impossible to find. In America they come out everybody month, but Australia (or at least where I live) only gets them once every 6-8 weeks meaning we are probably about 20 issues behind. I know you can read them online, but I've found I much prefer the physical copy over a digital one. Honestly the idea of a nuclear strike doesn't surprise me that much... it's sorta been heading in that direction for ages - in fact, on already happened on Angel Island I think. But I think they'll do something similar to the game Sonic the Hedgehog (released 2006) where right at the end it turns out the story never happened due to a couple of the characters going back in time to stop the events that transpired, or they'll use time travel to chaos control (teleport) everyone to an alternate dimension just before the attack... I don't think they'll be ending the comics just yet.
If you do want to read some of the comics, I would recommend Sonic Universe. It's a spin off from the main comic series and follows the adventures usually of individual characters. Most stories are 4 issues long, although I think one is 6 issues long. There have been some really good stories and I highly recommend checking it out.
Sorry this so long...
