Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
Hey guys!
I’m sure most of you have seen us roll playing in the Komm chat. ^^ Well, Zach and I have decided to make one here, in a discussion, for those who are interested in a more long-term RPG story.
Firstly, it might seem like there are a lot of rules, but they are mostly just common sense and will not inhibit your ability to control your character. Also, even though we are “Game Masters” we will not abuse that power, in fact we will even kill our own characters if we feel it is correct. This RPG story is meant to be fun, do not take anything that happens in it personal, no matter what. Have a good time, use your creativity as much as you can, and just enjoy the story as it unfolds.
Rules!
Sub rules
1. The world is an Earth like situation, which means that you cannot fly. Of course, some characters with wings, and magic powers are able to fly, but real-world physics still apply..
2. Mythical Beasts are allowed. Meaning you can have dragons, phoenixes, and other types of creatures that may or may not exist in the real world.
3. This is a time period similar the middle ages, which means, there are no guns.
4. There is magic on this world. (Such as the use of fire, water, earth, lightning, light, and dark magics.) Of course, standard use of magic applies.
5. You are allowed to create a character of a different race, such as the races: orcs, drow, elves, and dwarves, among others. Try to keep your character’s personality similar to the characteristics of its race. For example, since dwarves like to eat, to not make an anorexic dwarf.
6. There are the different kinds of magic users, such as: wizards, sorcerers, druids, warlocks, clerics, necromancers, magicians, etc. If you are going to use a magic user you must stay within the boundaries for that type of magic user. As an example Necromancers cannot heal people, it just doesn’t work.
7. Creatures that are summoned using something such as an artifact will have to return to their plane of existence after a period of time depending on the strength of the creature summoned. But if a creature is summoned through a ritual (such as a demon) they can say on the plane of existence they were summoned on until banished, or summoned elsewhere.
8. Magic is not infinite, it relies on the strength of the user and it takes a price for its use. The stronger the magic the more the energy it takes to use. If you use magic to start a fire, and then the fire starts the trees on fire, it will take less magic than for you to try to start all the trees on fire on your own. Magic will also take more energy to travel a further distance.
9. Weapons can be enchanted, although those weapons are rare. Weapons that are enchanted must be enchanted as they are made, they cannot be enchanted after they are finished being made.
10. If the game masters have missed any rules, or feel that there needs to be more, they can add rules for the sake of keeping the story fun, entertaining, and fair.
Now that the rules are all out there nice and pretty, I would like to ask something..
Mods, if you would like us to move this discussion to another, external, site, I would very happily do so, if it becomes bothersome in any way. I would however, very much like to ask that you do not delete it. If we could have a warning first, so we have a chance to save the work, I would be very, very thankful.
Okay! So enough boring stuff, it's time to have some fun with this! Just post below with your addition to the story. Be creative, be fair, and especially, have fun!!

Moe woke up in the forest, in the dead of night, still disoriented, with no remembrance of where he was. "Where's ma money?" he spat. Someone had probably stolen it from him... he would get him... he would pay and then--
A rustling in the forest interrupted his thoughts. Moe sat stock still, frozen with fear.
..................
Xylia did not like the look of the man who went by Rin. She was convinced that there was something mysterious, even sinister, about him. She decided to keep an eye out for him. Another reason to stay on guard...
She walked back towards Finn, where she found him talking with a customer she had seen before. After listening to them talk for a while, she jumped in.
"I am Xylia, worker of the inn. Do any of you know what's going on? Nothing like this has ever happened in this old town... it's mainly Moe getting drunk and me keeping him out of trouble."
At the mention of the name Rin, Finn's face showed inner discomfort. "Well.." Said Finn quietly, "I'm a trained warrior, and I'm here on a task, but.. I can't.. remember anything.." He looked down at his hands. "I awoke in the fields over in the south-west, and.. I came here. It seemed like the smartest choice." Finn looked in his bag, and pulled out a large book. "In this book is recorded everything in my past. They are my memories, that I must always record, because of things like this. It's not the first time that this has happened to me. Unfortunately, it is locked, and the one that has the key.. I don't know where he is. But I can tell you as much as I remember.
"I grew up in a small town, far away from here. Seth, my companion, was my best friend. There was this kid, my age, the son of a wizard, that I know. We called him," And at this, Finn laughed to himself, "Mr Goody Two-Shoes. We called him that because on the outside he looked so evil, but never did anything wrong. Then one day, we met this angelic creature, called a larlei, in the park near my house. It sent us on quests, taught us magic and fighting arts, became our guardian, but one day.. died.. Seth and I watched him die, and were swept up on a quest to kill the two that killed him. His brother, and.. that certain Mr. Goody Two Shoes.."
Finn stopped and looked at Myra. "A lot has happened since then, and I'm a lot older. Things have changed so much. It does weird things, up there." Finn motioned to his head. "So.. that's a bit of my history." Finn picked up the bowl, and finished the contents with a long sigh, his eyes brightening a bit before speaking. "Is there anything else you'd-" Finn stopped upon hearing Xylia speak. He turned to her, and spoke. "My apologies.. I suppose this is my fault, isn't it."
"I arrived when the light did, so I see no reason this should be your fault. No real damage done to the inn, as far as I can see. You are welcome in this town, and in Moe's inn." Xylia decided she sounded to formal. She frowned. It came from years of working at the inn. "If you ever need any help, just let me know. I'm always here, but I'm not leaving as long as Moe's here to take care of." She stopped herself before she rambled anymore.
Myra smiled and introduced herself to Xylia then turned back to Finn. "I want to help as much as I can. And I think I may be somehow connected to all this, but I'm not sure." The idea had been growing in her mind ever since she saw the burst of light. She paused, unsure about how to give voice to her thoughts. "... You know that light, or the magic or whatever it was that knocked you out, Finn? It reminded me of something my father did, only somehow the opposite. He-... I think he knew a little about magic. Or a lot about it. He died before I was old enough to understand what he did, but now I want to find out what it was..."
Aayla woke up, lying on the prickly straw exhausted, she mumbled under her breath, "Ah the price you pay for managing two jobs." Then she suddenly remembered she had to get to the jolly bear right away. She picked herself up and rushed over to the jolly bear, she opened up the door and saw the place was a mess, "And yet again Aayla misses any excitement that could possibly happen at the jolly bear." She mumbled sarcastically. Her eyes locked on to a man lying down on the floor next to some of her pals from way back, Xylia, and Myra. She walked over to the counter to relieve the current waitress, uninterested in what happened, still staring intently on the man with her friends. She finally recognized him and was confused why his friend wasn't with him.
Aayla slightly pulled out a letter bound and sealed, she then quickly shoved it back into her pocket. She looked back up and the man (Finn, she now remembered) looked straight at her. Not even a flicker of recognition struck him. She knew she had to get this letter to him, she grabbed a rag and dipped it in some warm water. She walked over to them with the wet rag, "Hey, Myra, Xylia, long time no see," Aayla playfully shoved Xylia. "Hey Aayla, deffinately", "So what happened here?" As she said this she crept towards Finn and set the wet rag on the big bruise on his head. "Oh just a little bar fight," Xylia, looked a little nervous, Aayla notice Myra hadn't said a thing to her since she had gotten here. She seemed to be thourougly (don't know how to spell that :P) intrigued by Finn. , "Great the one time anything exciting happens in this town, I'm late for work." She said trying to sound at ease. Aayla readjusted the wash cloth on Finn's head and while doing so slipped the letter into his pocket.
She patted his pocket and whispered, "Be careful you clutz", Finn looked at her strangely and finally the recognition seemed to kick in. "Welp I better get back to work guys good to see you." She got up and glanced over at Myra, she still seemed to be aloof. Aayla walked over to the bar and went into the back supplies closet to get a broom and other cleaning materials.
Seth walked out of the woods. He pulled his cloak closer about him. It wasn’t that he was cold, as much as he didn’t want to be recognized. He started to walk down the main road. He fingered the dagger that was at his waist. “I remember this does… something. But what?” He walked through the door at the Jolly Bear. He walked up to where Finn was lying.
“Finn, we need to move.” Seth said to his friend. “I talked with Raelin.” He said in a tone that he hoped would make his friend move.Aayla left the jolly bear to go retrieve more supplies after the brawl in the bar. She pulled her cloak on and walked down the road. As she was walking she started pulling something out of her pocket. Aayla had a strange feeling stir with in her and quickly shoved the object back into her pocket. She jumped back and almost got hit by a rider on a horse. She stopped and saw a blood ring on the riders finger, immediately her face turned ghostly white and her eyes changed from a greenish brown to a piercing blue. The way they stared it looked like they could stare a hole right through someone. She quickly pulled something out and threw it to the ground. Aayla was gone before the rider (Samenta) could even react.
Aayla tried to collect the supplies from their storage area for the bar but she was exhausted after what had just happened, "I hate using magic." She mumbled, and tried to get back to work.
Finn listened to Loraden speak before replying. "I'm afraid I don't know the year either, but I'm sure someone else does. I have a bit of a case of amnesia right now.. But if you're interested in magic, I could attempt to teach you some as soon as my memories come back." Then, suddenly, he saw Aayla, and something seemed a bit familiar.. but he couldn't remember what. Finn broke eye contact, and passed it off in him mind as coincidence.
Suddenly, Seth walked in, and when Finn heard the name Raelin, he sprang to life. "Alright! Finally, we found him. Myra, this is Seth. Seth, Myra is interested in learning magic, and I offered to teach her things as soon as she remembered. She's also the one who gave me the herbs and water." Finn then looked at Myra, and motioned for her to come with. Finn and Seth then left the Inn, determination in their faces, their mission revived.
"The year is 1254." Myra said as she turned to follow Finn.
"Who's Raelin?" she asked once they were outside, jogging a little to catch up with them.
