Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
Hey guys!
I’m sure most of you have seen us roll playing in the Komm chat. ^^ Well, Zach and I have decided to make one here, in a discussion, for those who are interested in a more long-term RPG story.
Firstly, it might seem like there are a lot of rules, but they are mostly just common sense and will not inhibit your ability to control your character. Also, even though we are “Game Masters” we will not abuse that power, in fact we will even kill our own characters if we feel it is correct. This RPG story is meant to be fun, do not take anything that happens in it personal, no matter what. Have a good time, use your creativity as much as you can, and just enjoy the story as it unfolds.
Rules!
Sub rules
1. The world is an Earth like situation, which means that you cannot fly. Of course, some characters with wings, and magic powers are able to fly, but real-world physics still apply..
2. Mythical Beasts are allowed. Meaning you can have dragons, phoenixes, and other types of creatures that may or may not exist in the real world.
3. This is a time period similar the middle ages, which means, there are no guns.
4. There is magic on this world. (Such as the use of fire, water, earth, lightning, light, and dark magics.) Of course, standard use of magic applies.
5. You are allowed to create a character of a different race, such as the races: orcs, drow, elves, and dwarves, among others. Try to keep your character’s personality similar to the characteristics of its race. For example, since dwarves like to eat, to not make an anorexic dwarf.
6. There are the different kinds of magic users, such as: wizards, sorcerers, druids, warlocks, clerics, necromancers, magicians, etc. If you are going to use a magic user you must stay within the boundaries for that type of magic user. As an example Necromancers cannot heal people, it just doesn’t work.
7. Creatures that are summoned using something such as an artifact will have to return to their plane of existence after a period of time depending on the strength of the creature summoned. But if a creature is summoned through a ritual (such as a demon) they can say on the plane of existence they were summoned on until banished, or summoned elsewhere.
8. Magic is not infinite, it relies on the strength of the user and it takes a price for its use. The stronger the magic the more the energy it takes to use. If you use magic to start a fire, and then the fire starts the trees on fire, it will take less magic than for you to try to start all the trees on fire on your own. Magic will also take more energy to travel a further distance.
9. Weapons can be enchanted, although those weapons are rare. Weapons that are enchanted must be enchanted as they are made, they cannot be enchanted after they are finished being made.
10. If the game masters have missed any rules, or feel that there needs to be more, they can add rules for the sake of keeping the story fun, entertaining, and fair.
Now that the rules are all out there nice and pretty, I would like to ask something..
Mods, if you would like us to move this discussion to another, external, site, I would very happily do so, if it becomes bothersome in any way. I would however, very much like to ask that you do not delete it. If we could have a warning first, so we have a chance to save the work, I would be very, very thankful.
Okay! So enough boring stuff, it's time to have some fun with this! Just post below with your addition to the story. Be creative, be fair, and especially, have fun!!

Myra sat at a table in the corner of the Jolly Bear, calmly sipping her tea. She had grown up in this small village, and at twenty years old, she knew just about everyone who lived there or in any of the surrounding villages. She sat back and watched Trunt as he made a fool of himself. Just as he got to the climax of his story, two men that Myra didn't recognize walked in. They looked as if they had just slept in a pile of dirt, but they still looked more sophisticated than most of the people at the inn. She could tell there was something different about these two, something special. She couldn't tell what was drawing her to them, but she knew she had to find out. In time, she thought. Just wait and see what happens first. And something did happen. Trunt almost flattened a waitress, and one of the newcomers jumped at him, going right at Trunt's face. By then, a crowd had gathered, and she stood on her chair to be able to see the action.
This was the most excitement the Jolly Bear had had in a while.
Finn brushed off his shoulder and turned to Loraden.
"This guy was a bit too drunk.. and he annoyed me." Said Finn, with a flick of his gold-red hair and a bored look on his face; as if things like that were commonplace. Then one of the men that were sitting at the table with Trunt stood up, and jumped at Finn. "You little-" He yelled, as Finn spun as he smackes the man in the jaw with his elbow, knocking him away and into a table, drinks and food flying everywhere. Clearly enraged, Finn jumps on the man even before he hits the floor and begins pounding on him. The crowd began to get excited at the show, and their noise attracted some attention from outside.
Rin walked down the dusty street just as the first round of applause went up. He stops at the sound, and looks over at the large, brightly painted blue building on his right, before walking towards it. "The Jolly Bear.." Without a word, he enters, just in time to see Loraden ask Finn what was going on. Rin's eyes snap open with recognition when he sees Finn. "I didn't expect to meet them here.." Rin thinks to himself, "And I cannot kill these two now, until I have reason. I know the danger that they are, but I don't expect the law to understand.. and I need the law on my side.." As the man jumped at Finn, Rin approached the crowd and mumbled under his breath, "Troublemakers.." When Finn began beating the man up, he suddenly took action.
Rin stops, just feet away from the spectacle, and mutters, "Yentry, no thryst." With that, Finn was hit by a blast of white energy, and flung across the room into the wall. "There will be no fighting in this inn while I'm here." Said Rin, in a commanding tone, his sky blue eyes staring Finn down.
That light! What was it? It seemed so strangely familiar, but there was something disquieting about it. It seemed like it had some kind of sinister origin.
Father... She remembered when she was a little girl, her father had done something like that with a burst of light, but it was a good, pure kind of light. He died before she was old enough to understand, but now she was sure that her father's work was somehow similar to what had just happened in the inn.
She was moving across the back of the room and around the crowd, stopping at the edge, near where the redhead had hit the wall. She felt like she should do something, but she had no idea what she could possibly do to help. So she just watched, intrigued and terrified by the newest newcomer.
(OOC: Rin is the bad guy, right? and the white light thing was some kind of magic? just making sure ;) )
"Moe! Moe!" Xylia yelled. It had been a long day working at the inn, and its owner was nowhere to be found. Suddenly she heard a noise. Apparently someone was causing a riot.
She rolled her eyes, annoyed. "MOE! Get over here! Something's going on!" She waited a few seconds
Now frantic, she walked out the door. Moe lay at her feet.
Is he dead? She checked him. "Moe! Moe!"
"It's Moses..." he mumbled. Good. He was alive. She dragged him in the room, and rushed to try to calm the chaos apparently going on in the Inn.
She opened the door just in time to see a blinding light.
"Hey!" she screamed. She couldn't even hear her own voice. It was the light, so indescribable.
It ended almost as soon as it began.
Xylia saw the waitress rush towards a strange man she had never seen before.
Someone was hurt.
She ran towards the waitress. "Get the healing supplies. I'll help here."
Xylia turned to the strange man (Ray's character, Loraden). "What can I do to help?"
Finn lay breathless up against the wall, unable to move his body. "You... I know you.." He panted. Rin's eyes bored into Finn's. Seth, standing near the entrance watched, emotionless. "I recognize him too.." Thought Seth. "But.. from where?" Rin assumed a non-threatening stance, and walked over to the bartender. "My apologies on the damage these two troublemakers caused." "Two?" Thought Seth, becoming slightly annoyed at Rin. The bartender cleared his throat. "Hmph. I haven't seen anything like this for a long time. Especially not magic.." The bartender, Uncas, narrows his eyes at Rin, suspiciously. "Who are you?" "I am Rin.. Rin Kage. I hunt troublemakers."
"Kage.." Thought Seth. "I don't recognize that.. maybe he's not who I thought he was." Seth turned and surveyed the situation, eyes finally spotting Myra by the wall near Finn. He takes a step towards her, then hesitates. "Finn.. he can take care of himself.. Meanwhile, I need to find someone.. I feel his presence." Seth then turned and walked out the door.
On the other side of the inn stood a very tall, dark, hooded figure. His right hand seemed to form some sort of seal, and his left was against the wall, watching the events transpiring through the thought projection on the wall. Upon seeing Rin enter the inn, his facial expression changed. It became a mask of pure hatred.
(Phoebe, that'll just be something that you'll have to find out, maybe by talking to one party or the other. ^_^. Oh, and if you have any questions or anything like that, I made a discussion just for that, so everyone can talk about stuff relating to this.)
Xylia called the waitress again, in her loudest commanding voice possible. The flustered woman rushed over, and soon had the directions for the herbs.
The waitress rushed back with the herbs.
"XYLIA!" Moe said impatiently
"Coming!" she shouted back. She turned to Loraden. "I'll be back, and tell me how he's doing." She rushed away without waiting for his response.
"Sometimes I wonder if you're even human, you run so fast..." Moe said, his words barely intelligible. What had happened to him?
Xylia frowned. "Moe, don't drink your own liquor. Try to sell it at least."
"Wasn't the likker, Xylia," said Moe, tilting to the side. "I don't know what it was. Some creature..." he almost fell over, but she caught him. "Moe, get to bed. No more mead for you," she almost dragged him to his room, with strength that surprised even her.
............................
Moe woke up in the middle of the night, sweating. No, it can't be. Not here. The creature, a product of his stupor, had appeared in his dream. It wasn't real, of course, he told himself. But if it was, then his room wasn't safe. Nowhere in the town was safe. He had to go think somewhere, get over his dreams. He held his aching head in his hands as he pulled on his shoes and walked out of the inn, making sure not to wake Xylia.
He walked into a grove of trees near the outskirts of town. He breathed in the fresh night air. It was where he had met Meg, and where he always went when he wanted to remember her. But this night was different, she wasn't there anymore, but he wasn't alone either. He shook off his fears, convinced he was too tired to think clearly. He began to lie down on the soft grass.
Seth walked out into the night, following his senses, walking towards the outskirts. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a hooded man stepped out in from of him. "Raelin." Said Seth. Raelen stood in front of Seth, holding a long silver-like naginata. "I've been looking for you." Said Seth. "Silence." Said Raelin calmly, but even that was enough to startle Seth and make him take a step back. "I sent you here for one reason, and one reason only. I need you do complete that. Now." Seth blinked, then regained his posture. "I will. But how will I acquire the bribe money? It was all taken from us." "Use your imagination." Said Raelin, before turning, and disappearing. "I hate doing this.." Said Seth, before running off towards the woods.
Finn lay, nearly unconcern against the wall, the crowd looking down at him. Thoughts flew through his head. "That man.. I know him.. I don't like it. And how did I get beaten so easily? I feel so.. weak.. I'm missing something." Suddenly he remembered. "My book! I need it.. It's.. It's just in my bag.." His hand twitched, and he lost conciousness.
Rin took out a small purse from his cloak, and handed it to the bartender. "Take this, it's pay for repairs. And now, Can I get something to drink? Something strong." The bartender took the purse without a word, and went into the back to grab something for Rin's drink. Rin turns, looks at Loraden, and slowly, calmly, proudly, walks over to him.
Xylia was once again by Loraden's side, assessing the conditions of the victim. Someone was walking towards them, someone she had never seen before in her life.
"I think he wants to talk to you," she told Loraden, as she inched away from the intimidating man who was approaching.
Myra had come over to join the people around Finn when she saw them bring out the herbs.
"I can help," she said, taking some herbs. "I used to work in an infirmary. I know all about herbs and medicines." She began mixing several herbs in water. She dipped a cloth in the water and started sponging Finn's face with it.
She kept her eyes down and continued tending to Finn as Rin came over.
