While thinking of probably my favorite R&L story I was thinking, does anybody have any strange or funny stories where you have injured yourself? I myself have a few...

The first one happened when I was 5. So me and my siblings are playing in our driveway with skateboards, I decide I will ride down on the skateboard like superman face first on my stomach. So as I go down the driveway the skateboard suddenly flips up and hits me in the face. I get up and of course being 5 I start crying and run in the house, little do I know I am leaving a huge trail of blood on the driveway, porch and in my hallway. So I go to the ER and they find I split my toungue down the middle like a snake, I leave with no stitches (not a very big split) and I can only eat cold soft foods. My toungue is normal, no ill effects from it.

The second story happened on February 16th 2004, I am outside hitting some practice golf balls with my little TigerWoods driver. Channing decides she wants to golf too, so I give it to her and as I am backing up.....BAM! She hits me square in the eye with it, I run inside and what do I tell my mom? "Mom.....can I play Playstation?" she looks out the shower curtain and there I am standing there with this big black eye. She says "What happened Julia?!?!" I explain and we decide to do nothing about it. Then at about 10 pm I look in the toaster and I see my black eye and start crying. We go to the hospital and 2 hours and some xrays later I am fine, I go to bed and everything was normal. I was happy though because I got a Alarm Clock, Spongebob DVD, and an Ice Cream Cake. I do have a picture of it, I may post but it's not the prettiest sight xD

So what about you?

Hmm. I'm sooo clumsy, so this is very easy to answer. XD I think the hardest part is choosing which injuries to post here!!

My first major injury I can remember was when I was, say, about 5. I literally ran into a wall and got a black eye. End of story. There's no way that I can really redeem myself from that. Haha.

The second injury was the most memorable. Outside of my old church, there were these columns that were very smooth. And so me and my friends always liked to run around the columns and swing on them, and just be kids. One day, which happened to be the day before the biggest vacation of my life to Washington D.C., and then to Hilton Head Island, I fell off of the column and broke my ankle. BUT, I went to all of the major landmarks in Washington D.C., and to the beach, both with said broken ankle, and it was pretty fun if I do say so myself! =)

Oh yeah, I fell off of my porch once and tore a ligament in my foot.....
And I've had countless falls up and down stairs. (Yes, up stairs.)
Yes, choosing them is hard but luckily out of all of my injuries I have never broken anything. I have many more stories I may post on my page somewhere sometime in the future.

Is does seem that injuries happen before either something fun or something important, it's funny that way.

Falling up stairs is so annoying, I do it often.....
mine is kinda funny. at my house we have a basketball hoop that is in the incline of a hill . its really fun to ride our bikes around it because you go up a little then turn and go back on the driveway, idk why but my brothers called it the "rainbow shoot". Well close to the hoop was our garage. My dad was about to take out the ride on lawn mower and I wanted to ride too. I was hiding around the corner of the garage and my brother got the great idea to ride his bike with his eyes closed. So he was going to ride around the "rainbow shoot" with his eyes closed and he was getting close to the corner I was at. I was going to jump out and go "hey dad! Can I ride too?" but when I jumped out and said "Hey dad!" and my brother hit me with his handle bars and I got a black eye.
I was crying for soo long. Now I look back and I think its really funny =]
The first one was on my birthday (around 8, I think. Too long ago to remember which birthday.) We lived on a hill, and our yard was a hill held back by a retaining wall that abutted the sidewalk below. I decided to ride my bike over to my garden which was at the crest of the yard. Unfortunately, my bike didn't want to stop, so over the hill I went, over the retaining wall and SPLAT onto the sidewalk. I spent that birthday at the doctor's office and then in bed with a split lip (no stitches) and skinned knees. The good thing was that my parents felt so bad for me that I ended up with more birthday presents. I still have one of the toys from that birthday - a pink fuzzy snake named Willy.

I broke a toe by running into a door, broke my tailbone in three places by roller skating (my husband no longer allows me on anything that moves under my feet) and broke my right arm answering the telephone (my feet were wet and I slipped, sliding into the refrigerator and whacking my arm on the humidifier. Not only did I have a compound fracture, but I left a nice dent in the humidifier. I also found out that, although I'm thoroughly left handed, I do need my right hand for a few things. Plus, I did found out who called that night.) So yeah, I'm good at breaking bones and most of the time, my feet are involved. I don't have any pictures of my injuries, but I can tell you when it's going to rain just by the aches.
Well presents atleast presents are good!

My mom actually broke her toe on the 5th trying to stop our dog from getting a chip bag my brother left out. She slammed it into the heating baseboard......and she injured her tailbone when she was swinging with my little brother the swing broke underneath her. I know a couple people who have broken bones and fractured things so that's one of the reasons I try to be careful while Snowboarding or doing anything. They did not like having a cast on for several weeks.

My family seems prone to injuries now that I think about it......I could write a book with all the stories I have! Reading other peoples stories is very interesting as well, keep the stories coming!
Hmmmm.. I remember a few years ago I was playing basketball, and I was jumping up for a rebound. I landed totally wrong on my leg, and my leg cracked. I couldn't play for the rest of the season (which was only a game or two.. no biggie). The worst part is, everybody saw it happen because there wasn't another player around me, someone in the audience got it on tape. I still watch it from time to time.. and I still have leg problems from this injury. I've torn my leg muscle twice since. It's not fun.

Also, in first grade, I think I was being a show off and I started walking up a wet slide (it had rained the night before). I slipped and fell, and my chin landed on the sharp end of the slide, and sliced my chin open. I kept telling my friends that I didn't need a teacher and that I would get a band aid.. turns out I needed 20 stitches.
I was in second grade, skipping rope on recess. The recess lady blew her whistle, and I started running towards the door, completely forgetting that I was still skipping rope. I ended up pulling a "greatest american hero" (great on the take-off, lousy on the landing), got good air and landed on my chin and one knee. Scraped the heck out of my knee, and my chin was bruised for about two weeks. But it healed.

And then a month later I did exactly the same thing again.
I think my first major injury was the summer in between 6th and 7th grade. I was on vacation visiting my cousins. They had a trampoline, so of course we spend a better part of the day jumping. My younger cousin says "I bet I can do a better front flip than you." and I replied "Well I bet you can't."
My front flip was good. So good that I flipped off the the trampoline and into the hard, cold dirt. Face first. Broke my nose.

My second major one involves a very young horse. My dad and I were in the process of getting him (the horse) used to a rider/saddle. We obviously picked the wrong day to ride him. He spooked, threw me off, head bounced off the ground and I hit my hip on the stool I had used to get on him in the first place. One CT scan, head x-ray and major painkillers later, I have a mild concussion.

There's probably more, but I can't remember any.
...Wonder why.
Stupid injuries are the best kind! I got a black eye in fourth grade after I ran into (literally) a third-grader. (My cheekbone smacked into the top of the poor kid's cranium.)

Mine are just stupid.
I was three for both of these.

I was walking along a pavement in fowey (cornwall, uk) when I walked streight into the corner of a street name sign. my dad then had to carry a screaming, heavily bleeding 3 year old child up a huge hill to the hospital. I still have a triangle on my head where no hair will grow.

The other was when I was at playgroup. My friends were all jumping off chairs so I decided I'd joined in. My first jump, I landed on another kid, fracturing my collar bone. I didn't realise until that night when I fell out of bed aqnd broke it properly.

Go me! :P
