RhettandLinKommunity

Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

Rhett and Link, as well as the Kommunity, if y'all wouldn't mind, I use GarageBand A LOT to make electronic dance music, so I am quite familiar with its inner workings and whatnot. I'd like to know exactly what effect parameters y'all set on the track echo on the vocal track. If you're just a Kommunity member and not actually Rhett and/or Link, do you know how to get maximum effectiveness with the effect? What is the echo time, what is the echo color, and what parameters could I set for maximum effectiveness? Thanks for any and all help! :D

I'd like to know as well, except I am not too familiar with GarageBand. I do tinker with it occasionally, but I would love to know how the "dumbifier" was made in that episode. I'll keep messing around with it.

The way I did it was I only used AUDelay effect on the master track. Then going in and manually configuring it so that the feedback is at 0% (Y axis) and the delay time is at .25 seconds (X axis) then in the expanded details making the wet/dry mix 100% and having the lowpass cutoff frequency at around 10,000 Hz.

I highly suggest not using headphones with a mic attachment because it'll also pick up the audio from your headphones and say it twice. What i like to use are some noise canceling earbuds and my mac books internal mic. It works perfectly and it's freaking hilarious.

I don't know if this is how R & L did it but it seems to work exactly as they have it. Feel free to mess around with the delay time, I find that .25 secs is pretty well but like rhett and link said you can change the delay and really screw someone up :)

If you don't understand the above lingo I made a quick youtube video showing the steps I used to create this effect.

For those of you that want to do this on windows you may want to try MorphVOX Junior. It's supposed to be a voice modifier, but if you take off the voice modification and you select "Listen" it has a delay that pretty much acts exactly the same way that you would make Garageband lag.
