Have you ever lost anything you really loved and never thought you would ever say goodbye?

I once had a dog for 5-7 years and we had moved several times and at our last house, we had lived there for two years. My dog, a 42 year old (in dog years) border collie mix was named Mocha. She had always brought up dead animals to our porch. We found skunks, porcupine, eagle, deer, birds, our neighbor's dog, and she almost got an emu(our other neighbors were farmers and it got loose). So, at our last year living in that house, it was 2011 and apparently, Mocha had been getting involved with our third neighbors dog. It was february, and on the 15th, she was giving birth to fifteen puppies. 11 boys and 4 girls.February 15th, 15 puppies, and also my oldest brother's birthday! We were constantly busy cleaning the messes and throwing away stuff they chewed on when they weren't supposed to. And a couple weeks later, same routine, give them room on a blanket to run around. But while they were in that house, what they had to be kept in an empty kiddie pool, so they don't get out. THEY GREW. They were able to jump over the side so we just had to live with it. We had 12 acres of grassland property, so they were running around all the time, playing. We had to sell them, because our hands are always full. We sold almost all 13 (two died) and the last one, we would've kept it if we knew we were moving and had to give up Mocha to a shelter because she kills animals. The last puppy got lost, when they were playing, he wondered off and got stuck in the woods. the 4th neighbor, was feeding him because they didn't know he was ours. He was always outside, living off a bit of dog food, but we never found him until about 3 days later. We got him back, fed him more. And now he has learned his lesson. We no longer have any animals in this house, but i like to say that they're still my family, even though they're adopted to other families, they're my family and had spread out this state of Michigan. Even though i never had a chance to say goodbye to THEM, I still would like to say that I love them. Mocha, and all the little guys were just a blessing.
